SymbOS forum instead of just one overcrowded thread?

You can change wallpaper, icons, some colors of the GUI and yes, it has screensavers...

This is exactly the kind of stuff you could discuss in a SymbOS forum - or at least in a new SymbOS thread in the development forum.

...but it still lacks themes support (although seems a good and "easy" to implement idea )

"Themes" are a good thing, but first I have to implement variable window element colours (Trebmint is kicking me all the time because of this). If this is really implemented, "themes" will be a great additional feature
Currently it's a little bit quite about the MSX as I am working on a third port since 2 weeks (Amstrad PCW/Joyce, see here and here).
But please don't worry, I will come back to the MSX soon, as...
- I have to finish the new Phillips FDC driver
- have to implement the OCM SD card driver - thanx to Alex and Tsujikawa I got a lot of help here...

I hope you realise that the official "What shall we do with the gazillion page long symbos thread?" now looks like replacing that thread as a new gazillion page monster

As for the Joyce PCW port this is great news, and we now have the largest screen as yet supported by symbos in 720x256. Shame that the first thing that users will complain about is that the lack of Locoscript or LocoSym

Yes I've been asking Prodatron about Themes for ages. Plus can I say I've never ever met Prodatron, so the accusation that I kicked him is just a lie!

That's only because Prodatron won't let me make device drivers for the V9990! Anyone up for 1024x212 in 16 colors?!? Well, maybe 768x290x16 is enough already... Of course, if interlacing doesn't look too bad that might make for some nice resolutions too!

1024x212? Wouldn't the fonts look stick thin. 768x290x16 sounds good though, though as a CPC user i refuse to believe that a z80 machine will work at such resolutions

1024x212 is n00b anyway. The ideal resolution features square pixels, not rectangular. Or otherwise SymbOS must render-up to provide square pixels! This would mean fonts, images, buttons etc. always have the real aspect ratio, while with half or quarter pixels you have more raster options for multicolor images.

It's an MSX, remeber? The Z80 doesn't have to do p00p, the VDP does all the work... Still, it would be nice to see symbos work in those high resolutions, plus adding interlace can kind of un-distort the aspect ratio. But, indeed, you prolly would need a 32" HDTV to read those fonts, you're right about that!

I think 640x240 should be a workable resolution though, with pretty much the same aspect ratio as the V9938's SCREEN 6/7. The real advantage of the V9990 would probably be speed though. Especially in R800 mode I think it would be blazing fast!

4.8:1 might be a tad extreme indeed! Interlacing would cut that down to 2.4:1, but it would still be unreadableish when using the same font, plus pics/vids would be best off doubled indeed. I must say SymbOS doesn't look bad in SCREEN 6/7 though, which also has a 2.4:1 aspect ratio (pixel-wise, at least).
