Hello
I am trying to bring my Turbo-R back to life.
I got it booting from Harddisk now.
Then i connected a PC floppy to it (Which worked in SVI738, its a 720kb drive).
I got it to give me files with out problem, its loads the autoexec.bas
But from here it dies, only disk i/o errors. My thinking is there is something wrong with the side select maybe.
Actually i cant hear the drive moves the head, but it should do since, it can boot and show me files and even run autoexec.bas
Autoexec.bas in this case, is a menu selector (game selector), i read the System_ID from the bootsector, so i knows the diskhead should move. I have been away from the msx so long, but maybe the head keeps on track 0, if autoexec.bas is stored as the first program on the disk maybe it can load even the head-step dont work ?
I think my problem must be ether side select or track signal. But its a good news it can actually boot the autoexec.bas and it also find the drive as B:

Replace the drive on TurboR computers isn't an easy task. Look at this guide on H.Otten MSX info pages. Also you can find a useful adapter here, in japanese of course (there's a brazilian page with the same info; but I can't find the link right now... ). |

The problem is it have been used to have a pc floppy before
but now there are some connections not working anymore at the mainboard floppy connector, which means i need to see if i can find the signals from another place on the mainboard. I am searching on the techical pages....

After what i see, i looks like RA1 have some connections to the diskdrive connector on the main board. But its very difficult to see, cause it have some white color, just at that spot on the main board. At the Diagram from the webpage i cant see the floppy connector and the lines to/from it.
Any help?

I got it work, at least some works !!!
I drawn some lines direct from the controller chip down to the disk-connector, since i had soldered to much the lines was damaged, and no longer connection between "STEP" and the diskcontroller. but now it works, i just played a bit galaga (one of the few games i had here ) and it also fine boots runemaster 3. So i hope it works, but there can be other lines bad, and i need to do the same if thats happend.
Thanks for the help. Now i have another problem, read in my next tread in hardware forum!
