Perhaps just at some dull screen, like "You WIN! Now play again!" |

| Pff, did anyone ever finish this game? It looks so terrbly frustrating and (because the maps look so much alike each other) boring! Nevertheless, that makes your project a really interesting one, only_69; I'm also very curious about where this game ends eventually.

This game ends with only_69 ending up in the mental institution, next to me |

 I imagine that. Something like this: You WIN. CONGRATURATIONS!!
And D-Tail, I am almost there  |

I think enemy placement is also part of the room definition, meaning that in one byte one could store a room number including its enemy placement. If XAIN would've allocated half a disk for their maps then this would potentially mean over 360000 rooms.. |

It's the first time in my life that i felt that " i wasted my time".I've done plenty of things wrong in my life,but i never felt i like "this thing is a waste of time"...Those 1,5 minutes that were spent on bluemsx playing this game is the most horendous thing i have done in my life...This game is SO BAD...God give me back those 1,5 minutes.... ..Enough jokes from me
Only_69 this is a great thing that you are doing,you are the only one that could finish this game...I am curious what is the end screen really |

Anyway i think that any end screen of a game can't be as BAD as THIS one i post here.I played livingstone today on bluemsx and i finally managed to go to the end...after many frustrations on the difficult levels it had and all i get for finale is this

Does this mean that they promoted the sequel to livingstone 2 ? |

niko, if you had seen MSX Solutions site, you wouldn't even start to play. The game ends with you finding Dr. Livingstone.
In 1873, Henry Morton Stanley found Dr. Livingstone in the Ujiji village near Tanganica lake, complying with the mission he was ordered to by New York Herald.
David Livingstone died in Chitambo in 1873.
And yes, Bastard is a horrible game. But I think the end will be even worst than Livingstone 2 one.

Still, there's something odd about Bastard I like.. hard to explain.

And believe it or not: Here are some information I found googling
It is a real story:
- Lake Tanganyika is a large lake in central Africa, Longest fresh water lake in the world and second deepest with more than 250 species of fish;
- Ujiji village - One of the oldest market villages in Africa;
- Sir Henry Morton Stanley, born John Rowlands (January 28, 1841 – May 10, 1904), was a journalist and explorer famous for his exploration of Africa and his search for David Livingstone. Stanley is often remembered for the words uttered to Livingstone upon finding him: "Dr. Livingstone, I presume?"
- David Livingstone (19 March 1813 – 4 May 1873) was a Scottish Presbyterian pioneer medical missionary with the London Missionary Society and explorer in central Africa. He died in that area in Chief Chitambo's village at Ilala southeast of Lake Bangweulu in Zambia, on 4 May 1873 from malaria and internal bleeding caused by dysentery.
Note that the meeting was held in 1871 and not 1873 as the game says! |

Another question...Livingstone for msx2 seems a colorful game in screen 8.Livingstone 2 seems a spectrum game with fewer colors...why is that so?
Bastard seems an unplayable game,i wasted 5 more minutes and it seems a miracle someone wanted to make a map out of it...it's too damn DIFFICULT!
Only_69 thank you for your info... |

I cannot say anything because I think I am the only one that loves spectrum conversions to msx, although these games do not use all capabilities of msx. But I have a lot of fun playing those old games. Livingstone for MSX and MSX2 are different games. Livingstone 1 was also made to spectrum but the MSX2 version no. I think Livingstone II gameplay is better.
And Bastard is an insane game. Mainly because there are some portions of the game which are inaccessible. And sometimes you wonder whether they are in fact inaccessible.

Did I understand right? They are saying there was no end after all this work? Could somebody translate this text to me?
"En nu? Als je, net als wij, deze laatste kaart hebt afgewerkt weet je het waarschijnlijk ook niet meer. Wat is verder de bedoeling? Wie komt met tips hoe dit spel uitgespeeld moet worden? We nemen niet aan dat het nu de bedoeling is eeuwig rond te blijven zwerven door de velden."
