| A recurrent problem with bluemsx - Can this emulator hang windows XP?

I have windows XP with Bluemsx2.7
If I leave bluemsx running without any plugged rom, after a while, I note a fast degradation of the performance of windows running the other applications. The other applications tend to hang, I cannot move the focus on the wanted window,
some elements of the bluemsx windows pass across the other windows....
Anything goes right if I close bluemsx.
Any explanation ?
PS. this was happening also in previous versions of bluemsx

The same thing has happened to me sometimes when i pause/resume the debugger many times. It seems as though as if the contents of the windows of bluemsx become garbled and i have not good control of the system, ctrl+alt+del takes some time to pop up and everything fixes if i shutdown bluemsx.I think it is the same problem.I never managed to find out why this happens though. |

When not using the emulator, and putting it behind some other windows, parts of blueMSX come trough... Stuff really crashes then...
This is in W2K...

I, too, have the experience of various versions of BlueMSX slowing down (and eventually freezing) other applications a lot, unless I switch to those other applications in pause mode. But even in pause mode, after a while some glitches occur, such as the upper command bar corrupting and such.

Check the memory usage of blueMSX in your Task Manager. It may have a memory leak, which leeds to problems like this.
PS: Meits, as you have Win2k, could you try out our openMSX 0.6.3RC1 beta? I haven't got any reports how it runs under Win2k yet.

MeitsNearDark: I have that same issue with NLMSX. Might be some DirectDraw stuff that's not handled correctly.

I can't confirm this happening on my computer (Win XP), but yes, definitely sounds like a memory/resource leak.

Yes, I'm familiar with this slow down problem as well... In worst case you end up to "Out of system resources" (or something like that) error message and you can't start any new applications. It does not seem memory problem to me... Still plenty of memory free... (WinXP Home, FIN)

Most probably GDI/DirectDraw resource leak related.

Under Options|Emulation there is a tab named performances. Here you can change the driver settings. Try all values. Does it happen always?
