Did someone notice this: (I found the item on MSX Posse)
http://www.digibarn.com/collections/games/msx-prototype/index.html
I submitted the following comment:
This seems to be a prototype of a Yamaha MSX2. The motherboard says YIS-604 and CX7(M).
MSX2 was released in 1985, so it must be earlier than that. MSX(1) machines got released in 1983, so I guess it is from around that time, around 1984.
The photo http://www.digibarn.com/collections/games/msx-prototype/CIMG9421.JPG shows that the machine has an S-3527 MSX-ENGINE (called MSX-SYSTEM in Japan). This is the first attempt to put a whole computer on one chip. (A few years ago made reality by release of the 1-chip-MSX, with a whole MSX in an FPGA...) More info about this on Wikipedia, also on the Japanese Wikipedia. |

Only looks like an unCASEd msx mounted on a metal plate.
Can't see any temporal cabling or anything that look like a prototype.

One of the Eproms has a date code of the 8th week of 1985, so it is impossible that this prototype was built before that date.

Ah, great info! So, it really is a typical MSX2 prototype from around 1985!
