There is a nice list of games running on FMSX-DOS.
http://members.aol.com/chrissalo/msx_rom.htm
The list is a little outdated by now.
I also believe that Xevious is one of the greatest games on the cartridge format for MSX2 computers. Also the game is in English!!!
Two megabits of games, two game modes (practically two games inside a ROM cartridge).
FM music.
Two introductions in English.
Various ships that could be combined into a "single" unit.
Fancy graphics, even if the MSX2 don't has all the colors from the original arcade board ... The original arcade machine only has the first game!

Where do you think Xevious stands compared to Zanac-Ex and Aleste ?

This is a badly outdated list. It is 10 years old.

In the past I had a better appreciation for the later games.
Now, my score for Xevious is a little higher. Even if the colors and details of the game aren't exact like the arcade, the game is close enough (even more memory and intros). I think that someone reported that the arcade game only has one megabit, the MSX2 game feature two megabit and two game modes. The second mode even had a "final".
Aleste was made after Xevious.
Zanac-Ex is much like Xevious and Aleste, same type of game. The MSX ZAnac games don't use differently sprites for the Ship, unlike the NES and Palm OS versions. This is probably due to the "Xevious" like Engine with Zanac weapons . Power Strike / Aleste use this modified engine with the weapons from Zanac (Ex).
There is the censured intro (bad word?) that is not on the Master System version of Power Strike (also the game is only one megabit unlike the MSX2 that is two megabit), this game is even in one of TecToy game collections.

New stuff and edited files.
Well, I only know the demos and games at MSX.ORG ...
Maybe in the near future, there will be more cartridge games like the Sunrise ones.
(I)legal copies or real backup files.
For old rom dumps, there is a lot missing. Like the old 4 megabit and 8 megabit games, there is not the ("16 mega" games either ... This strange behavior also affected real machines with "copied" games for MEGARAM!
Also there is not the MSX-FAN collection on most lists.

Not many. But fMSX went from 1.6 to 3.4 since then. |

And I 'missed' the Jackpot last month on the Lottery ...

Anyway, I think that the list is for emulation on pure DOS.
The DOS port has the advantage of disk emulation, sure that this does not count much since the list if for "ROM Dumps" ...
It could serve as a advice about lots of things missing from the original releases and the (not even reliable) sources on the Internet, sometimes one digit or algarism could make a great difference!

Both Windows and MSDOS ports of fMSX 3.4 emulate disks. What is the point? =)

fMSX-DOS was one of the early emulator to play games from real (original) disks.
Games like Aleste 2, Disc Station 32 ...
I think that the Amiga ports also could work with real Disks.
The Windows and the other original versions of fMSX would require a register to work .
In fact, sometimes I wonder about the registration of MSX emulators .

Xevious is awesome and it supports MSX-Audio too, but I still prefer the pc-engine port though.

Yeah, Xevious and Zanac/Aleste share a similar rank system, but I still don't understand what you're trying say.
