I'm looking for a shooting game called Hype, made by The Bytebusters in 1987. I'm interested in the cassette release with original box.

I wonder if it would be possible to convert the bin files of Hype into a ROM. I´d love to play it in my Game Boy.

You can always take the dsk file of Hype and then convert it using DSK2ROM program. It might work on your Gameboy that way.

Has it been dumped already? I don't think I've ever seen a Arabian msx cart before.

Rolins, I know a program called BIN2ROM, it tries to convert bin files to ROMs, but it´s success is limited (it did not work with Hype). Is DSK2ROM a different program?

It did not work.

What are the differences between a ROM file and a game in two bin blocks? Both binary blocks take 32,936 bytes (168 more bytes than a 32 Kbytes game). Are these extra bytes a header that can be discarded, i.e.: can I remove the right bytes and simply merge the binary blocks into a ROM file? Or does it require extra knowledge?

There's a ROM version of Hype made by Jam at MSX Legacy compilation.

Did you create a .dsk file first of the binary files?

Yes, I want to create a ROM file with Hype, so:
Step one: I created a DSK file with an autoexec.bas that loads the 2 Hype binary blocks.
Step two: I used DSK2ROM to create a (compressed) ROM file. Although the game worked in its DSK form, the ROM file did not work either in BlueMSX or MSXAdvance.

Update: messing with DSK2ROM parameters, I could make the ROM work in BlueMSX, but not in MSXAdvance. Probably the problem is with this emulator...

AFAIK MSXAdvance doesn't run ROMs that use BASIC.

Maybe it doesn't detect it's a scc mapped rom (can that be forced?), or maybe using the ascii mapper as rom mapping will work?
