I have received my Sunrise CF interface and I tried to make the partitions on a 128Mb CF card, but it does not work. Here is the situation :

- A 128 Mb CF card is inserted in the left slot
- The Sunrise floppy disk is inserted in the FDD
- The CF interface recognizes the CF card on power up
- After booting on MSX-DOS, I type "FDISK310"
- And ... Nothing happens

Actually, the FDD works for some seconds and then ... nothing.
No application menu, no nothing.

Could it be a problem with the FDD ?
"DIR" does work, as well as "TYPE" ...

Help, somebody ?

first : insert other FDD and type DIR -> if files on screen the drive is OK

second : insert only theCF FDD and boot DOS type DIR return and you see files -> the FDD is OK

if no files go on Sunrise Web Site and dowload utility for the CF or search on Net

What MSX are you running it on?

I tried with another floppy, and I can do FILES or load a .BAS program without any problem.
Simple operations are working BUT ... I have tried with the 1st floppy of the ARRANGER soft ftom Sunrise, the AUTOEXEC.BAS file works OK but after the first menu, nothing works.

Just an idea ...
Jipe, could it be linked to the 256Kb RAM update you made to my WX last june ?

@manuel : I'm running it on a Panasonic FSA1-WX MSX2+

Does the Panasonic have its memory expanded to 128kB or more? If not, you can forget about running MSX-DOS2.
EDIT: never mind, you just said you have 256kB.

Do you boot holding the 'DEL' key ? If you don't, it won't work.
I remember having some troubles also when I first tried to get things running.

This is the method to get it working for beginners (like me )

* put the CF cartridge in your msx
* place a CF card in the left slot
* put the sunrise disk in you diskdrive
* boot up your msx holding the DEL key pressed
* normally msxdos2 should start up, if not your disk (or FDD drive) is defect
* run FDISK310
* in the menu choose in the following order : A, W and I
* reboot your msx, now whithout pressing the del key
* copy the dos files to your CF card using the following command in basic :
copy"c:*.*" to "a:"
* again reboot your msx and it should boot up from CF now !

Maybe your sunrise disk is faulty.
Try with another disk (just format it and put command2.com, msxdos2.sys and fdisk310.com on it).
You can get a good version of fdisk310 on the sunrise website

That shouldn't be too hard to solve, just ask a relative, friend or neighbour

I guess I will not spare a USB FDD ...
I have at least to know if the problem comes from my MSX FDD or from somewhere else

Format a fresh floppy in the MSX FDD and see if you can copy the stuff from the Sunrise floppy to it, on the MSX. If that all gives no errors, the FDD is probably OK.
