| Xak - how to beat the water dragon?

I purchased Xak from woomb and must say the translation is great including the manuals. The R800 support is very nice.
I just started playing and right now I can't beat the Water Dragon in the Molm fortress. I'm lv10 and have the best equipment + enchantments, but nothing seems to hurt it. Any hints?

Each time, stand in front of the statue and lure the thing that flies at you.
Dodge it and go down (not too far or you'll stand outside again). The dragon will rise from the water (although sometimes the blue fish-thingie will fly more than once).
Wait till it breathes fire, then go up and attack the bottom of its head without touching the fire.
Try it with and without actually whipping out your sword.
Good luck!
P.S. Touching a certain bookshelf in the fortress will get you extra STR + DEF!

Either that, or you can stand next to the statue, wait for the beast to come out of the water, quickly walk two or three steps down and one to the left (if you're standing on the statue's right) or one to the right (if you're standing on the statue's left) and hit him. Wait till he's gone and repeat.

unplugging the msx powercable also instantly makes him disappear. Not sticking it back in will result in victory !

It does lose out in the WYSIWYG department, tho.

Yeah. I thought it would be a cool upload. I made a bunch of mistakes but I think turned out okay.
Right now I just reached Zeglard Tower. I like to finish Xak soon b/c I want to start playing Golvellius 2. |

Thanks for the support.
Yeah, Daiva 4 is an interesting game b/c there are 2 styles of gameplay: turn-based strategy and side-scrolling shooter. I'd post a video for ya but it would random acts on my part b/c I have no idea how to play either.

Too bad the English translation of Daiva 5 isn't for sale anymore.
100% understandable text would make the game even better!
Anyone here played Schwarzschild?

Well, you gave a great explanation before.
But the planet battle keeps kicking my ass.
I guess it's more of a "lack of skill" than a "lack of knowledge" thing...
I mean, understanding the messages would be interesting too, you know, like:
"The police force is striking on planet Netherlands, you should raise the fund!" |

@demonseed
Planet battles are quite hard in Daiva IV. Never got the knack for it, but there is a cheat for the planet battles with which you can regain life. So if you want to know that: press [SELECT]+[STOP]+[A] when game is paused ( ESC to pause ) to regain life. There's no limit to using this cheat. But it will be less fun to play.
Planet battles in Daiva V are much easier. If you do the following, the nearest couple of planets should be a breeze:
- Have a full fleet for planet battles (more ships is more life)
- Buy weapons for the fleet so you can get additional life restorers, a bomb and a barrier (amongst others)
- But if you are cheap and don't want to spend cash on losing precious fleets/ weapons for planet battles use wardata like EOJONKLKKSMBLFBLHU. With this and other wardata you get a sixth fleet with full weaponry and 2 players to do planet battles with. With that fleet it should be a sinch. And every time you input wardata over the 6th fleet will be restored to its full glory. That should do the trick in making the game easier, if not less fun...
And about the texts, yeah it is more fun to play if you understand them. There aren't that many different texts though. Most texts regarding the planets are something like this IIRC (paraphrasing here): There has been a mining accident, XX levels have dropped due to this or that. If you get messages after a fleet battle mostly you get some intell on the antogonist. And there are some indispensible hints on how to clear the game without which it is impossible to beat the game... but I already pointed those out before.
