Whoa! Turrican! And Streets Of Rage II!! Especially the last one rules... GFX9000 could easily do this probably! Normal MSX2 w/ V9938 = not a chance.

About Dome..
It should have been the first real time strategy game for MSX yes..
Sigh.. i still have the code lying around here.. and the gfx.. and an MSX.. but not the time..
I KNOW it can be done coz we where like 70% done... (engine) but we still needed a lot of gfx for intros, demos, etc.etc. And the music is also not there. And my z80 coding skillz are way down... thats like 10 years ??
Maybe in the new year ?
Greetz,
Antal (PARAGON productions)

| Phoenix Wright ace attorney!
Oh, and while we're at it, Gradus Gaiden and R-Type Delta would be really nice...
|
Phoenix Wright, or something like it would of course be very possible, since its not a game relying on lots of special techniques, but more on artwork.
(as for the DS-specific features; forget about those, as Phoenix Wright actually origined on GBA).
Basically any ADV game would be "easy" to pull off.... you need good artists, though (well, not nescesarily, but it helps )

About Streets of Rage 2, the SEGA Master System have a version. The SEGA Game Gear too ...
If someone manage to use some tricks to double the number of sprites on screen, it would be possible to make some game engine like the original concept. Imagine, one player and seven enemies on screen (not necessary at the same time, only need to LOOK like their are on the same screen).Could it be possible to blink the sprites on different positions and colors? The original concept only appear to use scrolling when there are not much characters on screen, some parts are a fixed screen for fighting ...
About OutRun, the MSX2 could have something like OutRun 3D. It is a different game with multiple courses and endings.

Super Family Tennis / Smash Tennis
Msx needs a sport game and this Snes version is incredible and very funny but only possible with gfx9000.
But in PcEngine we found a simply pre-version of this game called World Court Tennis more easy to port to MSX2.
Final Match Tennis for PcEngine could be a good choice.

About the quality of graphics on MSX software. There is no need to make "semi-ugly" games, even the 'blocky characters' could be better designed to correct fit the action on screen. If someone take into account the color limitations on the tile set mode, it would be very much possible to make amazing games.Even if some people dislike the colorless (monographic color) or black & white graphics, this limitation comes from the fact that each tile set could use one color for the front and just another for the background!Careful use of sprites could result in more colorful characters on screen ...

how about sim games like simfarm, simcity actually i think there was a simcity out, maybe - there is a c64 version. MSX2 dont have any good chess games. MSX1 have - colossus 4 but maybe a battle chess should be fine too.
We can always wish for more games, but some games are impossible to make on original hardware, but we can always dream. The problem also might be no one cant buy the license to convert the games

Well, "The Chess Game MSX2" was actually a nice game! Came on tape tho, that was less funny.

(Imagine?) SimCity was one of the canned titles for the MSX computer line, there are several screenshots on MSX-FAN Disk Magazine and the Official MSX-MAGAZINE. But due to unknown reasons the title was canceled (apparently before the sale of any copy) ...

So what? Change the name and graphics. That's what all game companies do. |
