metal gear's snake eater uses time... if you don't play the game for a week all the food you gathered will have gone bad.

Difference between day and night: Hydlide 3 and Peter Meulendijks showed it in Realms of Adventure (but it's not real time, of course).

I always missed a good managerial game like Sim City.

Here's a picture of a hypotetical MSX version of Sim City

(Essentially this is a picture of the ZX Spectrum version with the MSX1 Palette applied on it via Photoshop)

Not bad, eh?

...and now, with a little touch of magic (AKA Photoshop) here are some screenshots taken from the never-existed MSX1 conversions of some famous games:

( Street Fighter II )

( Cybernoid )

( Super Wonderboy In Monsterland )

( The *mighty* Microprose Soccer - Indoor Edition )

( Special Criminal Investigation )

And also count in that spanish Spectrum game based on the giant robot MAZINGER Z...

I can't find a screenshot of that game in this moment, BTW it was a game clearly inspired by that japanese cartoon... AFAIK Mazinger Z was really popular in Spain (and in Italy too), and I always dreamed of having that game available on MSX since the very first day I have seen it.

Cesco: somehow the screenies all give me quite a "ZX Spectrum" kind of feel

As for Sim City -- if you ask me, Construction Craze got the looks right. Making it a turn-based game was quite a bad idea though

About Wonderboy in Monsterland, AFAIK, there was a version of it for the MSX, sadly cancelled. I´ve seen videos of it in Youtube.

We don't want no black and white spectrum conversions The Sim City looks pretty OK, though

What makes it such a good game? And how big/complex is it? I'm just curious as seems to look rather simple to recreate looking at the the Sega Master system version (not much enemies at once on the screen).

On the other hand wouldn't it be much better to make an entirely new game instead of redoing an existing game that is easily available trough emulation?

Looking at the video on youtube, it's easy to see why it was cancelled. Graphics are pretty bad, the scrolling is horrible and it gots blinky sprites all over the place. A MSX2 version might have helped a bit but Dragon Slayer already looks much better

Looks cool to me... well, at least for MSX1 standards
Hey, back at that time I even enjoyed the MSX1 version of Star Force, and that says a lot
