Does anyone have his Music Module in active use these days? Or is the classic Moonblaster era really a thing of the past now?

Actually, who makes music on or for his MSX anyway? Lately PSG and MP3-remakes are in vogue, apart from the odd scc/fm-pac bonus in MSXdev'0x games these chips seem to have become a rarity.. and Music Module seems to be the rarest of all, funny, once the most popular chip in the 90's ..

My music module is right next to me. However, I dropped my MSX 2+ while moving out to a new place and haven't booted it up ever since [to see if it still works]. Even so, I'd still prefer to plug in a MoonSound and do something with MBFM instead (a fine MB1.4 replacement imo, although most people, including me, tend to lean towards MBWAVE too often).

The last few years I've been more into playing/composing piano tunes on my synth (Roland XP80) in combination with Reason 4's NN-XT sampler (because I like the presets that come with Reason better than the presets in my synth).

It's a while ago indeed, it was some airwaves challenge when I used MB1.4 for the last time.
But I like it still...

Reason 4's Thor module has some nice (electric) piano's and I have "bought" some nice refills with kick ass grand piano's. You can "buy" them from me if you like.

And no, I don't use my music module as often as I did back in the good 'ol days. I only use it when I rearrange some old track 'o mine with Reason.

how can get these Music programs? I got my MSX to make music and play some games on.
I'd be very interested in getting them some how.

wozz - Moonblaster won't run on the CX5M, it requires an MSX2 or higher (with 128kB RAM).

Even if the Moonblaster should not work on the MSX1, there should be other programs to make music on the Yamaha home computer. It is possible to use the Music Module on standard MSX computers, the build in program works on every MSX model. The FM-PAC also works on MSX1 if you take BASIC lists or some additional music editor, there is even some software available like the Synthe Saurus cartridge.

I'm making some FM-PAC music right now.

Never really liked the Music Module though.

Synthe Saurus is MSX2. There's no music program for the CX5M other than the cartridges provided by Yamaha.

I think Synthe Saurus is both MSX1 and MSX2. My original cartridge has both logos on it. I didn't try it on a MSX1 though.

Yes, I use a lot my Music Module and it's my favorite music system for MSX, even Moonsound has better sound and FM PAC and PSG are widely spread. I've miss MSX AUDIO on the 1chipMSX (MSX AUDIO is part of MSX standard), but the MM cart works perfectly there. I use Moonblaster. 9 FM channels and 1 ADPCM channel specially for drums. I also use Music Module with a MIDI master keyboard. My last MSX songs have been made with Music Module.

Odd, Synth Saurus was one big graphics show, I can't imagine how that would survive on MSX1..
