Hello MSX Fans,

1) For the CX5M vidéo Connector, I would like to know the function of pin 3 (AV), pin 5 (YS) and pin 4 (Y) .

All PINS are used.

Pin 1 = Ground
Pin 2 = Audio Output
Pin 3 = AV ?
Pin 4 = Y ?
Pin 5 = YS ?
Pin 6 = Green
Pin 7 = Red
Pin 8 = Blue

2) I would like to connect the CX5M to an Amiga Auto scan monitor 1438S which has a 23 pin connector.

Only 9 Pins are used

Pin 3 = Red
Pin 4 = Green
Pin 5 = Blue

Pin 11 = Horizontal Synchro
Pin 12 = Vertical synchro
Pins 16, 17, 18 = Ground Red green Blue
Pin 20 = Ground Synchro

If it's not possible can I connect the video connector of the cx5M to a scart connector and what are the connections ?

Thank's a lot for your Help

I think Ys is luminance... AV may just be CVBS, you can easily check if that's the case. Just make sure you use a volt-meter and check each pin to see if there's not +5V or +12V on there, if not, you're free to experiment. Creating a scart cable should be fairly easy, just see which of pins 3-5 would serve as your sync. (after checking their voltage)

That's prolly where he got the pinout. That page doesn't say what AV, Y and Ys are though, nor does it suggest how to build a SCART cable...

Thank you for your help.

I have found how to built a scart cable on a french site :

For those who are interested :

http://www.msxcafe.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=349&start=10

1 of Din to the junction between4 and 18 of scart
2 of Din to 2 of Scart
3 of Din to 8 of Scart
4 of Din to 20 of Scart
5 of Din to 16 of Scart
6 of Din to 15 of Scart
7 of Din to 11 of Scart
8 of Din to 7 of Scart

But nothing for connecting CX5M to my autoscan amiga monitor.

Any Suggestion ?

If that connector is correct it would mean pin 4 is the CVBS signal. Try connecting it to either Pin 11 or 12 of the monitor, in some cases it might be even both. From what little info I could find on your monitor I gather pin 10 might be suitable as CVBS input. Try connecting just pin 10 of the monitor to pin 4 of the CX5M and their respective grounds. This may already give an image. If this is the case hook up the rest as described below.

Pin 1 -> 16, 17, 18, 20
Pin 2
Pin 3
Pin 4 -> Pin 11 / 12 (or perhaps 10)
Pin 5
Pin 6 -> Pin 4
Pin 7 -> Pin 3
Pin 8 -> Pin 5

I think that the best thing I have to do, is to built a SYNCHROS Extractor to separate Horizontal Synchro and Vertical Synchro from the CVBS signal of CX5M.
I have found a schematic on a review, it's not difficult to realize cause I have a little experience of soldering and some knowledge of electronic components.

If it works I'll keep you informed of it.

Thank you for your answers.
