Hi!

Recently I have been playing Teddywarez's Guru Logic. It has only 50 stages, hasn't it?
There are 5 levels with 10 stages each. But does anybody know how many stages has the original GameBoy Advance game? I mean the one programmed by Compile. Too bad that there is no english translation, only japanese!
I need the info to consider if it will be good to produce another MSX version. If there are enough "lost" levels, then I will code it.

The game concept is really cool and, for me, is one of the best puzzle games that I have played. Only Puyo-Puyo is even better!

Kind regards,

Ed Robsy

pitpan, you want to code another version of GuruLogic because of lost levels? Isn't it smarter just to add them levels to the current GuruLogic version then?

Yeah, it does contain a level editor, so it shouldn't be THAT hard to do.

The original has more than 300 levels. But the biggest problem is the original also has many more gameplay elements, so you will only be able to port a small amount of those levels to the TwZ Gurulogic.

Well, actually I am porting GBA Guru Logic to the MSX, but from a different point of view, and it will be my entry to MSXdev'03 game development competition. The game itself will be closer to the original than Teddywarez's version, but it will include a level editor aswell.

The thing is that in a 32 KB ROM I will manage to fit 100 or 120 levels, but not more because I am also adding the colour graphic displayed when you solve each puzzle.
It's not a matter! I will produce a "compact version" for MSXdev'03 and a "XL version" in a 128 KB megaROM with SCC (Konami5 type mapper) and *ALL* the levels plus *ALL* the intermission scenes (adapted, of course).

Kind regards!

Ah! It would be great if somebody helps me with the japanese names of each stage. Do you think that Takamichi could help me?

pitpan, I encourage every effort that's being done into MSX programming, but you're sure porting Guru Logic to MSX again is worth all the work? I know Chaos his version isn't even close to the original......Still.....I REALLY like the gameplay already. And that's what it's all about, or isn't it? How about porting another GBA game?

An easy to port fun puzzle game is Denki Blocks, on GBA and GBC. The game uses no scrolling/ROZ, and if you're lucky you'll only need to port the game engine, and then extract the levels from the GBC (Z80) version.
