Hi everybody,
I'm looking for a msx game.
It was a game with a soldier and you must beat other soldiers. You saw one battlefield and you must get from under (screen) to the top of the screen. If you reached that, you will go to another battlefield. You have just one weapon. There are rocks and sandhills where you can hide from enemies. In some battlefields you could be attacked by airplanes.
In the day's with tapes i just remember this: If you are loading the game, after the first beep, this would come on the screen: "found:wp2"
Does anaybody know wich game i mean and know the name of it? I hope that someone have this game in a rom file, so that i can play it, and re-live the old good day's.

This sounds like Who Dares Wins II... Although I'm not too familiar with the game, so I don't know about the airplanes :/

It IS most likely "Who Dares Wins 2". Played that game for hours on end. Especially the later screens were quite challenging. And this was one of those games where English-style sprite graphics (one color only) didn't really impact the graphical quality.
Haven't tried the copy from funet yet... ({link removed, see policy}) And AFAIK there ain't no rom-file. Could someone verify that? |

Thank you very much!!!!!!!!!! It is who dares wins 2!!!
If have download it, and create a dsk file. It seems to me it is a bit slow. I have created more dsk file and all of them are slow. (such as gangman, cuckie egg).
How can i speed up the game?
I use rumsx or fmsx-dos (but with fmsx-dos i don't know how to use dsk files)

ROM file does exist, though it's not an original dump but a .rom conversion made from the original tape file.

Better use NLMSX or openMSX, currently the most accurate MSX emulators. I don't know what configurations you are using, but using a japanese MSX machine configuration you can run the games at 60Hz, which is 20% faster than the european 50Hz machines.
OTOH, I think with fMSX-DOS it's possible to increase the interrupt frequency even higher (out of spec) and increase the CPU speed. This should speed up any game |
