Retro Event 2013

Retro event 2013 is an all retro gaming event that will be held on Saturday the 26th of October in Elst, The Netherlands (just across the German border). It doesn't matter if you are into Consoles or Home computers like the MSX, Commodore, Atari or Sinclair. Here's an overview of the activities on Retro Event 2013:

Retro gaming fair with both local and international sellers, ranging from single-table to large sellers.
Take yourself or your kids to the museum area with many playable game systems and homecomputers.
Visit the Homebrew area with the largest collection of homebrew available (across all platforms, including MSX) and talk to their developers.
Enjoy the many demo-kiosk, homecomputers and consoles we've got setup for you.
Hear famous game developers from back in the day talk about developing games.
Enjoy the many new homebrew game releases and demonstrations that will debut exclusively at the event.
Learn how to build your own arcade cabinet.
Watch Commodore 8-bit music legend Jeroen Tel perform live on stage!

Apart from these activities the organization will also give away hundreds of euros worth of FREE game consoles, games, accessoires and memorabilia between 16.00 and 17.00. One item per minute for a total of 60 items!

Retro Event 2013 will be held in the 'Onder de Toren' building, St.Maartenstraat 34 in Elst, The Netherlands from 10:00 till 23:00. The organization also confirmed visitors from abroad, with many people from the UK, Belgium, Germany and Austria amongst them.

I'm currently finishing a new MSX game for release on cartridge at the event. So depending on production it will either be just playable/demonstrated or actually released at the event ;-) We'll know in the next few weeks...

Either way i'm sure it is going to be a great event organised with passion and with so many things to do.

Updates 6/9/2013:

Q&A panel guests revealed:
Boys without Brains, known from hits like Hawkeye(64), Flimbo's Quest (many platforms) and Disposable Hero (Amiga / CD32). Yes they are mostly commodore oriented, but it is always good to hear stories from proper developers from back in the day.

Its a combined fair + event. However, just the fair part is bigger in size than e.g. Nijmegen (naturally because it is multiplatform). Too bad to see MSX not that well presented at this years event compared to Commodore and Sinclair. Hopefully it will be more equally represented at next years show.

For me, the fair was a bit of a disappointment. I was there around 10.45h. Maybe I didn't look very well, but I found only one MSX item. Didn't buy it. There were a lot of console games, though. It looks to me that fairs like these are more and more about console games. I noticed the same at the Apeldoorn fair.

And for this, I drove all the way from the south of Arnhem. That's up to 8 km! Fortunately, I had to buy some things at the garden center in Elst.

By the way, there were some nice Sinclairs and a C64 on demo. So there were some 8bits from the 80s.

Jip, in terms of MSX it was absolutely disappointing. I didn't even spot that one item. I had a good time though, lots of sweet memories again. I spotted some a bit rare items (but not really uncommon) like a Virtual Boy and some great Vectrex stuff.
