Angelic Warrior DEVA goes digital!

Back in the year 2020, Team DEVA released the physical edition of their game Angelic Warrior DEVA, an action platformer in full throttle. Today, the team releases the long awaited digital version.

The MSX2 game Angelic Warrior DEVA is a fast-paced action-RPG with Psycho World and Valis 2 reminiscences. It features quick parallax scrolling, 10 large environments to explore, colorful graphics, animated visual stages and a great soundtrack.

For this digital version, Joymega support has been removed. Please also note that the game does not work on Toshiba HX-34 machines with 64kB of RAM. The original physical version also had a built-in save RAM to store game progress, therefore an explanation of how to save your game with the digital version is included. The emulator OpenMSX supports the save game option, while one can use save states when playing on other emulators.

The digital version package consists of the game as a MegaROM file and a 16-page full color manual in PDF format. It runs on any emulator that supports MSX2 and above with 128KB of RAM using MSX-Music and/or MSX-Audio for sound playback.

No, a new cartridge edition is not planned. Maybe if interest is high enough (say 20) I can do another physical edition. But I have 1 copy left for sale so if you are interested just mail to my teamdevamsx account.

Hello, is there any way to save game using OCM / Zemmix? Like Solid Snake for example, that saves directly in the SD using sofarun.

Because it's tile mode, so the smallest movement of the screen is in steps of 8 pixels. When playing slow-scrolling Nemesis, this movement appears blocky, but when playing a fast game, it's just what it is: fast. E.g. if you would have a smooth scrolling game move this fast, it'd be in steps of 8 pixels as well.

Naturally, one could choose tile mode with scrolling registers, like in Psycho World and Space Manbow, but then you wouldn't have 'normal' multilayers in the background, which DEVA has. 'Normal', as in: not like the slow Stars in Space Manbow's first level, which isn't slow tile movement but gfx-shifting within tiles that move at the same speed as the foreground tiles.

Would it be very difficult to make a patch so that the games could be recorded in the fmpac sram or the turboR sram?
this afternoon I will try the digital version in mgfrsd and c2, if they record in these cartridges I will be more than happy.

I've the same feeling specially at the begining, you need a bit of practice to get used to the movement.

A small improvement to the gameplay could be to increase the attack range (some kind of knife or similar) so you don't need to be so near of the enemies.

I noticed that several people say that the (scroll/movement) speed is very high.
You can also play the game in 50 hertz mode (start the rom with F1 pressed).
This way, the game can be played at a slower, more leisurely pace.
Music remains unaffected.
