As a user I'd like the big challenge with no limits. But as said, time is more and more of an issue. Assembling a team to create such a big thing is more of an utopia then. To keep it doable I chose for the one person option...

I'd put limits only on time to deliver non on rom and ram size.

Exactly, the 'small challenge' refers to the efforts required. E.g. someone could make a tune in MBWave with a 1MB wave kit, that's a large entry then, but still one someone could do in a weekend's time.

Likewise, a team made out of a coder, designer and composer could spend half a year on a 32 KB game ROM.

Yes, small one is (theoretically) the best option but the last years seems that we are making use of the msx powerful at 50%, even less. I miss more MSX2 developments for instance...

I vote for no limits on size and compatibility, but just say 3 months to deliver.
Usually during holidays in summer one have more free time to do some coding.

I vote for No Limits because I hope for a new MSX-Game Record one day: The biggest RPG ever seen on MSX. With MSX-2 Graphics, MoonSound, a giant Game World, an epic story (with a lot of Demos between the scenes), several quests, storys beside the main plot, different endings and so much more ... Smile

You're right Syn ... and I think we all must thank the developers so much that they keep MSX alive. But ... and I hate to say but at this point ... I hope for a giant RPG the MSX World never seen before. The UMAX Adventures in the middle/end of the ninethies were the right way. Playing PA3 and The Lost World was soooo funny. As they published Realms Of Adventure I thought that my dream came true. But after realeasing the first disk they stopped the project. Crying

Ah ... there is one thing I forgot ... a "full translation challenge" ... there are so many games untranslated until today and I think that could be another nice challenge ...
