Hi all.
I'm trying desperately to start a music MERIDIAN, but can not hear anything.

The image is frozen on [PLAYING] [INITIALZING] ....

Do you know how I do it for foncitonne correctly?

I tried with the Music Module and the Moon Sound but the result is the same.

Tried the program just now. Also the version from the official site ( www.opl4.nl ). I got all the required hardware, but it doesn't work out of the box, it seems.
After changing the ini file some dirs into the dir I got meridian at, I got a little further than the phase you're at... Initializing is done, it now says:
Playing
From 1:1 to 64:64 Tempo:
--------------...
and the caps lock doesn't respond anymore... Frustrating... I leave this program and go back to my own...

Ok....Meridian 3.0 beta3 work now...

Just no insert the Music Module.

You change the [Filestype Meridian] by [All Files] and now you can open this files type:
Meridian / Midi file / MoonBlaster / Moonbl. FM / Moonbl. Wave / Soudtracker

Now, the all notes are play, only i havent sound

I have a music module inserted, also a moonsound. The music module is connected to a synth waiting for data it just doesn't get. There's just no midi driver loaded. At least not for a specific synth. One would take for granted that a default driver would be loaded (I mean, GM is a rather standard range of instruments)...

Meits: you have chosen the music module midi out in settings? You also loaded a midi driver? I believe some drivers are included, like the KORG 05/RW, Roland JV30 and of course, an OPL4 driver. Works like a charm here

Please can you mail me your complete directory [MERIDIAN] with all files includes please?

You can use it with Music Module and an Expander?

@Mars2000you: Meridian dont want xxxxxxxx.SRC for driver.I do not compile these files.

Ok, I understand now.

1) dont insert the Music Module. (MERIDIAN freeze on INITIALISE PLAYING...)
2) Start MERIDIAN
3) OPL4 / Load OPL4soundBank => OPL4_GM1.OPL
4) Song / Open / (click on MERIDIANtype) and choice ALLtype.
5) You can all these type:
Midi File / Moon Blaster / Moonbl. FM / Moonbl. Wave / Soundtracker / Meridian

Now, i search to play all song with the Music Module.
More than ever, I think a specific driver for music module is required.

Got me curious there, but unfortunately it just crashes my computer... No matter how I think I do the right thing :/
Should Meridian work out of the box or is there some kind of manual?
My hardware meets the demands easily...

It should work out of the box, I haven't ever changed any settings!

And here I have a turboR GT with 1mb internal RAM, Moonsound and MusicModule connected through extended slot 2. As I said before, works like a charm...

Hi all.

After many trials, here is the solution that allowed me to run correctly MERIDIAN.

It is possible to start with MERIDIAN Moonsound and / or Music Module.

The Moonsound should not be OPL emulation mode (Jumper 1 in his case).

If you insert the Music Module, you must use the TIMER Moonsound and not the Music Module TIMER.
Play => Midi HardWare => Midi Timer => MoonSound (OPL4).

From that moment, all music will be played by the MIDI OUT connector of Music Module.

Simply connect an expander or synthesizer sounds nice to listen to.

It is also possible to listen to music using the OPL4 Moonsound.

To do this, you must instruct the Bank OPL4_GM1.OPL as follows:

Thx! You should try listening to some *.MER files using the OPL4 driver. In those songs, Michel de Vries is using some great 2-OP and 4-OP FM instruments. I believe in the combination between WAVE and FM, the true power of the OPL4 is hiding

I do not know why, with the files. MER, some music as ADOL.MER GRADIUS.MER start or pause ...
1) Do you encounter this bug?
2) Maybe the problem is OPL4_GM1.OPL?
3) Do you have another Sound Bank that OPL4_GM1.OPL or if you have kept an old version of MERIDIAN? (maybe the files inside the old version a bit diferent!)

If I understand the interest 05_RW.DRV:
4) It requires MERIDIAN to emulate the choice of instrument much like a KORG?
5) It requires the OPL4 to produce identical waves KORG?
6) It forces the cases (4) and (5)?

This software is amazing. Shame it is not completely finished!

The problem is that if you do not have Moonsound it doesn't appear in the menu, so only Music Module timer is displayed and cannot be disconnected.

Hi all,
I have tried to use Meridian with my TurboR ST but no luck... When I load a song (.mid, .mer) i can hear only one single note, then nothing...
I've tried both with Moonsound, and external midi module (SC88Pro).
Someone can help me?

Did anyone get this program to work with a Philips Music Module, OPL4 running from a megaflashrom ?
I wonder if MIDI IN commands are actually processed by Meridian and converted to OPL4 in real-time?
So far I have had no luck getting even a .mer file to play (hangs) and I read that the program should allow MIDI in, but I can't see this happening.

I tried it on my A1ST with 512KB RAM expander and it doesn't work.
