Show me the sprites moving and the engine ticking and I'll agree with you. A name table dump with converted graphics does not impress me much Sad And if for just one level you need 128 KB, then this game is going to beat all the records regarding size. Evil

What a positive reaction! Tongue

As said by the author is only a test to see how a NES converted game will look on the ugly MSX(1)

Come on people it' s only a test. If the test goes ok I'll invest more time on it.
It' s 128k now because blueMsx fails to recognize a megarom when it' s smaller than that. The code right now has something around 40k. The first level is a 352x54 tiles what gives me 19k. Plus 4k of tileset and round up the pages to 8k. If we were in the 80's I would try to compress the maps, but now its not necessary aynmore Smile and it saves a lot of CPU time.

btw, SMB stands for Shameless Msx Bros, just to avoid any legal suit. Anyway if nintendo bugs me I'll switch the project to Cave Story LOL!

Concerning Super Mario, I'm wondering if this

ever caught Nintendo's attention.

And there's more where that came from.

Were these Zemina titles ever released in the west?

Great Giana Sisters on C64 was effectively banned from the commercial market (only to force the game to go into non-commercial community spreading), and Wikipedia also teaches that KC Munchkin, a PacMan clone on the Philips Videopac (Odyssey), was banned in the US but it continued to be sold in the Netherlands at least until the mid-80's. So it seems (rather unsurprisingly) that copyright lawyers have been most active in the US.

Of course if you try to sell it Nintendo will sue you. As far as I know Nintendo doesn't sue fan made projects, if that was the case, this website and all game were already shut down a long time ago:

@ Hrothgar
You must be right. Another example is Oh-Shit! which AFAIK provoked no reaction from Namco.

@ retrocanada76
That's a good thing!

retrocanada76: don't get me wrong, but I stress the importance of the game engine because it's the most difficult part. It includes platforms and scrolling, and good control when sprites move smoothly but background scrolls in a blocky fashion is always difficult to balance. Anyway, I wish you the best luck!

And if you are interested in a nice Panasonic FS-A1 WX MSX2+ unmodified, just let me know Wink
