I have followed through the suggestion by Ivan about an interview with Dennis, Konami's retired PR manager.

He seems to like to talk a lot about his role with Konami, and Konami did in the MSX and Nintendo scene in the 80's. He has done radio programs and press events about Konami in his time.

I asked him if he would like to do an interview and answer some questions about Konami, he said that he would be delighted to do so.

A formal interview is not practical at this stage, however question and answers via email are fine, and I can talk to him on the telephone if needed.

Perhaps this forum will be a good place to post the questions ?

It maybe a good idea to put a closing date for the questions, so I will suggest September 1st to give you all plenty of time to think about it.

Best Wishes

David

Ask him, why when I worked almost opposite Konami in Field End Road Ruislip, they couldn't sell me copies of games I lost in a fire? I was devastated to know I couldn't play them ever again :'( (Don't let him know I discovered emulation or anything, make him feel really guilty, and tell him I'm still sobbing)

I'm quite interested in knowing something else about JAIL BREAK. I have heard some things about it, being one of them that the Konami "UK Team" was coding this game but that, sadly, after the results of GREEN BERET Konami decided to drop this project.

Maybe, even there's a beta version somewhere ...

David, this is great! Of course this forum would be a nice place to publish the whole thing. We think, though, this interview might deserve even some more attention. How about a complete article or something?

How do you want to organize it? Can we propose questions in this forumthread? Yes, we can Tongue

Great job, DavidH!

I'd like to know how Konami UK looked at MSX at the time and (sub-question) how he looks back on MSX now.

This interview with another ex-Konami man could give you some ideas :

No flame intended, but the interview in the link you give is full of bull....

The whole interview looks like the nonsense published by the infamous Bas Labrueyre on those good old Genic Clubguides. Some facts in these articles were true, other 'facts' were pure nonsence.

And to hide behind 'I signed a confidentiality agreement with Konami and Microsoft', ow behave! In the timeframe the interviewee discusses, Microsoft had left the MSX arena and left business to ASCII.

I'm sorry, the article is a nice read, but I hardly believe there is any truth in it.

I think that it was already discussed at the time. There are indeed some chronological problems for example.

But if I link now to this interview, that's simply because the questions of this interview could be used for the new interview, for which this thread is opened.

I hope that this time, the answers will be more conform to the reality of the events.

Please keep the thread to my orignal request for questions! No offence ladies and gents, but some of these Forum threads touch on items nothing to do with the orignal thread.

Does he know what made Konami decide to leave the MSX scene in 1990? That was a bit early, I think. MSX wasn't quite on its way back, commercial wise. Was it solely because of NES?
