Please ask him what was Konami's view on tough competition with Speccy Smile

I remember seing Salamander and Rush'n Attack for ZX Specrtum, but they was some really lame ports (if we are to compare Spectrum Salamander to Spectrum R-Type or Rush'n Attack to Freddy Hardest)

Plus how did they cope with the fact that most installed UK MSX user base was on British models of MSX1 machines? I guess it was a major decision fact in porting so few MSX2 titles to English

1) Why Konami decided to use RC-numbers which start with number 7?

Japanese Famicon titels start with RC8 so I think every -old- system had it's own codes.

For example:

Famicom:
Gradius RC810
Gradius II RC832
Salamander RC821

Looks like they didn't stop counting those disks:

Sharp X68000 (Disk):
Parodius da! -Shinwa kara o-warai e- RA955
Gradius II GOFER no yabou RA957
Detana TwinBee RA958

etc.

Did you interviewed this guy yet? Be quick, I'm sure he's not young, and health might be a serious issue Smile Don't postpone it too much!

I used to run a publication called MSX UK back in '88 and did an interview with Dennis and Mark at Konami UK for the newsletter (a copy of which I still have, and would be glad to scan it in and send it to an admin' here). Similarly, if anyone here has old copies of those newsletters I put out to 250 members (most from the UK), I wouldn't mind having a copy. My e-mail is pa80@blueyonder.co.uk.

It's really amazing to find a MSX community still going. I remember doing an article which was published in a well known UK computer games magazine about MSX, and visiting stores like Knights in Aberdeen and the communications with members. It was such a fantastic time (the birth of popular computing).

Nostalgia is a good thing, but not to be lived in! ;) Please give my best to Dennis (I wonder what Mark is doing now?).

All the best.

Welcome to our forums, msxuk88 Smile

Of course, we'd be glad to have those scans! Please send them to downloads@msx.org, so we can add it to our downloads database and everyone will be able to get and read it! :)
