MFR SCC+ SD used MM as a default file/programme manager from the built in ROM disk, is there a way to update the ROM disk so it can load SofaRun instead?
You can copy the content of A: drive to your SD card, add SofaRun, modify AUTOEXEC.BAT and then delete the ROM Disk.
Also, you can copy A: to a floppy (or mounted DSK), add SofaRun, etc. and then install that DSK as ROM Disk using OPFXSD name.dsk /id

here you go... just start sofarun from an autoexec.bat

;)
No need to delete the ROM disk, place an empty file NEXTOR.DAT into the root of the SD card and the MFR will boot from that drive.
Why can't i do it from the ROMDISK for speed?
I am having troubles with mapdrv
The command "MAPDRV H: DISKNAME.DSK"
You can do it from the ROM-disk, however the set-up is more complicated (both configuring SofaRun and creating the ROM disk), and speed-wise there is no practical difference. So just erasing the ROM-disk and running from the SD card is easier to explain and to do. Upgrading SofaRun is also easier.
Either way, I’ve never made a ROM-disk so I can’t explain it any better than: make a disk image somehow, make sure all SofaRun and SofaRom configuration files have the temp folders point to the B: drive, and install with OPFXSD as Guillian indicated.
I managed to update the ROM-disk, however, it is obvious read only. I need to redirect sr.ini to point to drive b: to collect and write the data files it uses. I haven't got the time at the moment, but, it has proven to be fun trying.
Don’t forget the ini of SofaROM, it also contains a temp directory path afaik.
Modified the installation files for sofarun, it loads in around 7 seconds from the ROM disk, whereas the SD card takes around 11 seconds. Not even enough time to make a coffee! However, I do have free 'free space' on the ROM disk, could put some useful utilities there
In the beginning I tried to make something of the ROMdisk as well. After a few days I was quite done with it being read only and away it was. If your're comfortable with a ROMdisk, please keep it, but every little thing you want to change just takes way too much effort.
