I copy the ROMdisk to a floppy, modify whatever files, FDSAVE a .dsk and reinstall

Hello! I am pretty new to MSX computers and recently got a Sony MSX2+ and megaflashrom. So, I am having a bit of an issue. I think I am successfully loading up multiple disk images, but I can only ever get the first one going. Pushing numbers on the keyboard isn't switching anything. Is there a trick to it I'm missing?

if you flash like this:
opfxsd disk1.dsk /d1
opfxsd disk2.dsk /d2
opfxsd disk3.dsk /d3

you keep 2 pressed when you start your computer, and keep it pressed for a while. disk2.dsk will boot.

Meits' instructions are for the old DSK loading method. You can load the game in that way without problem.

But probably LiamA is using the new DSK loading method. So just be sure all your DSKs have the same name and extensions .FD1, FD2, etc... (e.g.: GAMENAME.FD1, GAMENAME.FD2, GAMENAME.FD3...) Then press RETURN on any of those files.

Another way is to select the DSK files pressing SPACE on them (with whatever name) and then press RETURN on a .DSK file.

That's when you flash from multi mente and have all your extensions coupled to the right command, I guess? I did that manually and work like you suggest as well. My example is when flashing from the prompt Wink

So it actually turns out that the numbers above the keyboard are the ones that do the switching. The ones on the right do not. It's super handy that highlighting the disk image and hitting the graph button lets you bypass manually setting the disk image lineup.

Now I just have to figure out why some games run and others don't. Gradius 3 crashes with an I/O error when it worked fine on physical floppy disk.

Thanks for the pointers, guys.

@Meits Actualy, it is not a mater of loading the games from command line or MultiMente. There are two different methods for loading DSKs.

The old method flashes the DSKs into the cartridge as a ROMs using OPFXSD.
The new one loads the DSKs directly from the SD card using Nextor DSK emulation feature using EMUFILE tool.

For games released as ROM (like Nemesis 3) it is better to directly load the ROM version instead of a conversion to disk.

Is there a way to partition the card as 16Mb FAT12 and 3Gb as FAT16, I can use the Nextor partitioning tool to do it, however, when I boot is NEXTOR it does not recognise the 2nd partition. I can boot MSXDOS 1.18 and it works fine with the first partition. It will not read the 2nd one booting in MSXDOS or NEXTOR, ideas?

If you add to your autoexec.bat the call to MAPDRV with correct parameters to mount your second partition to some drive letter, it would work. I guess Nextor mounts automatically only first partition on the drive. I once used that kind of setup but i lost my microsd card and was too lazy to reproduce. So i copied the content of ROM disk to that first partition, figured out options for the MAPDRV and edited autoexec.bat then reboot and removed ROM disk in the recovery mode for that to work (if you want to keep the ROM disk you will need to edit autoexec.bat in the dsk image)
