Thanks for the datasheet.
With FM do you intend opll-fm pac or other?
Eseram, megaram, mapper ram: more wiki?
I see this is all on a chip: is impossible to add also the msx.music emulation with 256k of sampleram and the opl4 ekulation? in that case the 2 slots available would be very sufficient for many other expansions.
Thsnks guys for your explanation

It has MSX-MUSIC (OPLL / FM-PAC). It does not have MSX-AUDIO nor OPL4, there is not enough room left on the FPGA for it. ESE-RAM can emulate ROM cartridge mappers as used by Konami. It has also plenty of regular memory mapped RAM. Because it has so much functionality built-in, including SD card reader, two cartridge slots is plenty.

p.s. I think you confused MSX-MUSIC (FM-PAC) and MSX-AUDIO (Music Module). MSX-AUDIO supports ADPCM samples but MSX-MUSIC does not. MSX-MUSIC is most commonly used by games.

Yeah it doesnt help that their is a MSX-Audio cartridge out there called Philips Music Module. One would assume a Music Module on the MSX should contain MSX-Music Big smile

The internal music editor (aka "Synthe") of the MSX-Audio cartridges by Panasonic and Toshiba contribute even more to the confusion.

To make things worse, Yamaha has chosen CALL MUSIC as the command to activate the built-in editor of their SFG-0x modules.

If you add SFG-05 to a machine with internal or external MSX-MUSIC chip, you need a specific poke to intialize the SFG chip (CALL MUSIC alone will always initialize the MSX-MUSIC chip).

To initialize the SFG chip on these machines : POKE & HFCD2, 0 : CALL MUSIC

Thanks guys for the info.
I am considering msny things before subscribe.
I have a MEGAFLASHROM SCC+SD 512K RAM MODEL.
If I understood correctly using it on the zemmix neo I would have :
2 Scc chip
2 Sd reader
2 virtual floppy drive
2 flashrom units
4,5 mb ram
0 msx audio
0 moonsound

Do you think there is no room for a second version without the ese-ram (and or ide sd) but
with msxaudio and/or moonsound for all owners of megaflashrom scc?
In that case we would have

1 Scc chip
1 Sd reader
1 virtual floppy drive
1 flashrom units
4 mb ram
1 msx audio
1 moonsound

what do you think about?

I dont think a msx audio or moonsound FPGA implementation exists yet, though I might be wrong.

I suppose you can just buy the zemmix now and update it with a new firmware without the eseram but WITH moonsound/msx audio IF someone writes it later (or maybe you can write it yourself Big smile I dont know if the used FPGA has room for both msxaudio and opl4/moonsound, probably not. Also dont know if the megaflashrom even works on zemmix/1chipMSX.

In my opinion its easier to just buy this zemmix neo and get a moonsound+msx audio cartridge. Smile

Thanks syn. I am thinking to buy it in fact.
If I understood correctly with zemmix neo my megaflashrom is not so useful, because
1- with zemmix, eseram and sd i can have almost the same experience
2- with 2 slots available for moonsound and\or msx-audio is very useful if MFRSCCSD512K is not necessary
Is this right?

Is there anyone who can tell me his experience with zemmix neo with\without MFRSCCSD512K ?
Can someone who tried zemmix neo and also a realmsx with MFRSCCSD512K tell me his experiences with both?
Regards

MegaFlashROM SCC+ SD works fine in the 1chipMSX / Zemmix Neo, however, there is not much use for it other than transferring data between MSX-es. As you noticed, the feature list is nearly identical. I see the MegaFlashROM SCC+ SD as a "1chipMSX upgrade" for regular MSX computers Smile.

One thing worth mentioning, the Zemmix Neo supports normal SD cards of max 4 GB, while the MegaFlashROM SCC+ SD supports microSD cards of up to 32 GB (SDHC) (not sure if SDXC is supported). To be able to use the same SD card on both, I bought a couple of non-SDHC 4 GB microSD cards, I can insert them in the 1chipMSX with the little microSD->SD adapter that they come with.

I doubt the Zemmix Neo specs will change that much, because this is based on the 1chipMSX source project. A lot of modifications would be needed to have those changes, and I doubt there’ll be much interest in a 1chipMSX without all those functions. In the meanwhile, you’ll lose support for KdL’s firmware updates. Rather than changing the 1chipMSX specs, as Syn said, it seems more logical to me to get a MoonSound cartridge. That way you’ll also get the best sound quality.
