WD2793 is also (mostly) WD1793 compatible Smile

So, assuming that Toshiba made the actual unit. How come that the Sony HBD-50 regularly shows up for sale on Yahoo Japan, and we have plenty of pictures of it, and it is supported by openmsx and such. While from the HX-F100, all we have are a few pictures out of old magazines.

But that also happened with the touchpads (Graphic Tablets), didn't it? The Philips NMS-1150 was OEM and is way more common than the model from the real maker. (I heard those touchpads were also made by Toshiba, but this needs to be confirmed).

The BassDitta rom does not work ... it sends me a Fast disk v.1.08 that does not work. Look that I remarked to him that floppy disk was and he said to me that ... I do not like anything that deceive me and blow me € 13 !.

As i said before it has NOT the same registers at the slot adress.
An alternative is on the Toshiba interface cutting adres lines thus making shadow adresses.
I never tried it on This Toshiba interface.
Joepie after 30 jears of collecting an archive of magazines is leaving our house.

Here you have the rom that buys Bass ditta and that does not work either.

This a diskrom of a Philips NMS8250. Although it has the same diskcontroller (WD1793), it is at a different address and also the additional registers have different addresses and other bit mappings. This rom will never work with Toshiba FX-101 hardware.
What are you trying to achieve here ?

I do not try to achieve anything. This rom was sent to me recorded in an eprom, because they said that it was worth to pass my disk drive from DS to DD. But it does not work.

If the controller is able to drive the FDD side select signal (and of course the FDD itself is DS), and it is known with which register and which bit to select side, then the driver of the HX-F101 could be altered to support DS disks.
With this new driver it is easy to create a new diskrom.
In the Wiki, I read that there are versions of the HX-F101 which have a DS FDD and support DS disks. May be someone how owns one of these versions, could dump the ROM.

We don't know for sure the wiki is correct. The Japanese HX-F101 being DS is based on a table from ASCII, which may be incorrect. The British revision being DS is based on a brief review of the "HX-F101" (presumably the GB model) in "What MSX?". These claims may or may not be true. We only know for sure that the PE model is SS.

Seeing how rare most models are, the PE once seems by comparison the common model, getting a dump from another model seems unlikely.

Of course with a real hx-f101, someone with hardware knowledge could investigate if the side select is connected. If it is connected, it could be analysed and may be the register and bit could be determined.
