A friend of mine alerted me to this and sent me a .rom of the demo, which is apparently the first 8 (!) stages. He said that if I buy and download the full game, he can instruct me on how to rip it to a .rom file so I can run it on my MSX proper -- it is apparently possible, and people have created scripts specifically to rip certain EGG releases (including pretty much all MSX games) to .roms.
This is actually legit! It's pretty impressive stuff.

Indeed it is. Do you have any idea if that demo-rom is freely distributable? I wouldn't mind putting that on my home-brew site with a link to the Project-Egg page to buy the full game.
Pretty impressive game...
It wants to be msx but it definetly isn't. The sprites magnify. The amount of copies done exceed the vdp's bandwith by far and the sound requires a special non exsistent cartridge that can do pcm with buffer. I do like these wannabe retro games. This is ment as a positive remark. Think about i wanna be the guy for example. It has that 8bit feel to it but it is windows. Love that game.
Dont like the sounds of this one though. Annoying.
I see anything related to vdp that it is not doable on real hw, (at least we get the usual sprite flickering)

If Google translate serves me well, then this version is free. Probably the version wyrdwad has got. Instructions of how to extract the .rom would be nice.

"This product is a free trial version that allows you to play up to MISSION 8. "
So it means also there are more than 8 stages in the full version... : 16 missions!
The real problem (as it was with Bazix products) is how to extract the ROM to be able to play it on a real MSX and/or your preferred MSX emulator....
This is what my friend told me, verbatim:
theres a script you can use that extracts it pretty easily
the script has some limitations
-it can't extract older project egg games, which use a different file format
-there are some weird collection releases that are no longer for sale that it cant extract
-it cant extract arcade games and pc60 games
but none of those apply here
also, if you have a sub, be sure to grab all the free games
https://gist.github.com/obskyr/c99a89d404e32d7eacaf271b21ab272d
this downloads all the ones on the egg store
and if you have a sub, you can also download these

let me know if/when you buy the game, so I can give you the extraction script and show you how to use it
I can ask him if he's willing to share the script here. I'm sure he would be.

Well, if someone could send me the demo-rom (M S X @ F I L E - H U N T E R . C O M) I will happily put it online in my homebrew section so people can play it. And of couse include the link to the page to buy the full version
I will never understand why the free games are not available for anonymous downloading, but maybe some detail is missing me ....
This is a game for MSX2. It's still impressive.
