My SX-2 FPGA always gets stuck on green screen when I try to load Lilly's Saga despite others not having this issue and trying all their suggestions. I've also re-downloaded three times, and almost every other game of the 100's work. It seems like it may be an issue with the size. It would be informative to see if removing some or all of the sound to get it down to 256kb would fix the loading problem...just for science.

Hi Swami. Sad to hear that it doesn't work :-( Wonder what it is, because I hear others have it working.

And I even worked with thara to fix a z80 emulation in "OCM-PLD" as Lilly first didn't work there. Is this SX-2 FPGA maybe? https://twitter.com/thara1129/status/1587793192006864896

I'm not particularly fond of ever distribute a version of this game without the music, as music is such an important part of the game. But even if I managed to strip out all the music, the game would be much bigger than 256 kB.

If HRA indeed had to fix a bug in z80 emulation to get the game to work properly you will need to update to the latest PLD (v3.9.1). People have reported the game was working (and they were using v3.9.1 as well).

It sounds like it is probably a firmware update problem, since they had to change the firmware to get it to work. Of course, this risks bricking the system, it says.

I’ve updated several OCM several times and never had any issues. Of course there is a risk but it is minimal. Use a separate SD is recommended, don’t use SD-BIOS on the card and just have MSX-DOS2 on it. And I think it was at some point not advisable to use 4MB memory mapper during the update, so best switch that to 2MB.

@Bengalack
Thanks for the fix. This game is really awesome and I now can play it via my wireless controllerSmile
I’m not a “real” MSX user just found the pcb design of Sergey as I also build his IBM XT clone.
I’m really impressed by the games and the community.

Is there some kind of complete idiot's guide for that around here or just what comes with the firmware, regarding instructions, warnings and mappers and such?

There are some in the wiki but most are outdated and no one updates them.

I got involved in MSX computers by way of the FPGAs from 8bit4ever after several ports of MSX1 games were being ported to and sold for the ColecoVision. ColecoVision's do not required much technical knowledge. I have done some technically advanced things like SSD and RAM upgrades in computers, firmware updates in a couple scenarios and electronic soldering, but I watch a couple in-depth videos of it being done before-hand or have step-by-step instructions. Most of this MSX terminology is still Greek to me, nothing against the Greeks.

Feel free to ask anytime if a term is unclear. We (or at least I) will do my best to explain or point to explanation. Perhaps someone can even put the info on the wiki if it isn't there yet.

So it should be safe to just leave the bios off the SD card and just have MSDOS2 on the SD card with the PLD and flasher and set the SXX2 to 2048MB and enter the command line code. Is that pretty foolproof either way, single or dual epbios?
