Looks like this project is dead, only 4% of VR owners responded which is pretty poor.

In some MSXVR forums and with MSXVR Team (the creators of the system) also, I talked about the posibility of an hybrid MSX/MSXVR cartridge with the two versions of that fabolous game: MSX2+Genesis

Please Kai , rethinking about it

I think kai cancelled it because there was very little interest shown.

There is interest, for sure, in a V9990 version. But the development time would be long and probably Kai would not sell enough copies to get back the investment.
