I just made a DAC for my 1.0 version of the mmc drive with smd resistors. This is a very small but perfectly working dac. If anyone is interested I can post an image. I used 0805 5% resistors and the sound is very good with Space Manbow Smile
I am going to put the same solution also on my v2.2 pcb from sinfox

Just received my package with the PCBs and the last components. Now the dreaded task of getting the plc chips on the PCB starts Smile

Good news! But take your time for the SD interface i ordered. I will be unable to do anything on MSX for the next 4 weeks Sad

Erikie, I'm willing to buy one of these babies! (populated PCB, or kit with empty PCB + required parts). Can you contact me for payment / shipping details? Since we're both in the Netherlands, I'd prefer plain bank transfer, and shipping with track/trace. You can find my e-mail in this site's contacts list.

If you're busy soldering these PCB's: I could do some or all of that myself (once I know what should go where). PLCC or other SMD thingies don't scare me, I've used those before. I assume there's some programmable logic component involved, that needs to be programmed after it's soldered on (same Altera MAX device as pictured earlier in this thread?), and you need a programming/interface cable to do that? I suppose I could dig up (order) a suitable cable myself...

Reason I'm asking is I want to get into programmable logic development, and this looks like a fun project to work on. I'm no stranger to diskROMs either, so I might dive into the software as well if I feel like it. But that ofcourse only makes sense if you have some hardware to test with... Smile

Well a quick update, was indeed busy with getting the first prototype to work.
It works!! everything does what it should do. Only one thing I forgot, a ground connection to the LEDs...
Sad Stupid I know but easily solved with a simple wire. The rest is perfect, it fits right into a konami casing.
Will take pictures tomorrow.

@Retrotechie, send me an email at evanson (a) quicknet nl to work out the details. You can get a kit if you like, no problem !

Don't worry muffie I should have more then enough and you are certainly one of the first to get one!
Here are 2 images of the first ready PCB
Note the ugly yellow wire (way too long but it was a quick fix) to get the SD Led working. The Flash Led and 1 capacitor is still not mounted but the device works on both slots Smile

For the ones who want to experiment further with the CPLD I also included 6 smd pads leading to the JTAG pins so you can further play with the remaining macro cells or optimize other stuff :)
I bought the LCD panel mentioned earlier in this thread and will start experimenting with that one.
