I recommend the version of the program is valid for all OS (including Window-XP).
Many programs work on both XP and Window Vista, Window 2000, and also 8), but this was different from everyone and thanks to the link: SHGetKnowFolderPath

XP is no more supported by Microsoft, it's time to change or you could be victim of malware exploiting new security holes.

Believe it or not. Something like that allready exsists. I once saw a Russian forum of XP users writing their own patches. Making sure dx11 could run etc etc. Pretty unbelievable and cool.

XP is the best OS Microsoft did.
A lot of people still use it.

Using expensive PC with Windows8 to run MSX emulator is non sens.
PC is not MAC Tongue

Nope: it's MSX-DOS Tongue

But seriously, the only reason not to upgrade to Win 7 or 8 is your machine not supporting it (like, having a Pentium III with 512MB RAM or something like this). For staying retro, the MSX world is more than enough, thanks.

You don't use your PC only to emulate a MSX, right? If so, why you don't simply use a MSX? Smile

And that old Pentium III with 512MB RAM will happily run Linux with XFCE/LXDE as Window Manager and openMSX as your MSX emulator.

Not only that. My PC is not so old, but almost. And I'm using Linux+Wine to run software that my XP is not even able to run Smile
I'll stay with XP + Linux until this PC dies.

Yeh... malware, all Windows always had it, with or without support.

This is not only about malware. This is about security bugs that will not get fixed, meaning that people may be capable of taking over and controlling your computer from a distance without you knowing it. Including stealing all data, transaction data from web sites, using your PC in a botnet, etc.

The best thing is that the security holes will be published but not fixed. So everyone knows about them.

Ha! Manuel you are right. But when you use XP longer, say the timeframe as long we did for the msx, probably its save then to use it because nobody knows what XP is ...
