Hi everyone,

Not wanting to hijack another thread, where I read:

About running out of space, aoineko, are you using compression? If you are not, you can save a lot of space using it, and I would recommend ZX0 ( https://github.com/einar-saukas/ZX0 ), which is a new compressor, that typically compresses significantly more than the usual pletter/aplib.

I was highly interested and wanted to give it a try.

But when executing the zx0.exe file, the windows console tells me that it's not compatible with 64-bits version of Windows. Am I missing something ?

Hmm... Not very helpful, but it works fine on my 64bit Win10... Maybe broken download?

You could always just compile it for yourself, using any C compiler for your platform.

Since I am on Mac, I compiled it from source, and that worked fine for me too

I had the same experience some months ago. Not sure what happened... downloaded via a wrong link or so. Downloaded again, and things worked fine.

Press "Download" on this page worked for me, right now:

Thanks, but it still does not work. From what I see in the error message, the Windows console says it's a 16-bit application (which is not supported).

The link above doesn't directly link to the executable, but to a page where you can download it.

I still think this is some sort of corruption issue. (Try ie. different browser.) The file size should be 38912 bytes with SHA-1 D2FAD9FA6D0973FEC10428ACC990CBB6627174D3

It finally works ... Indeed, the problem was that I was downloading the download page (which, due to the link construction, downloaded under the zx0.exe filename) and not the file !

I must say that the GitHub page links were confusing.

Nice! I'd be curious to see if you achieved better compression with ZX0 than with pletter or whichever was the compressor you were using before. I've seen really good compression from ZX0 in my projects, so, I made it my default! And it's also, not much slower decompressing! I had tried other compressors like aplib, exomizer, etc. and they have better compression rate than pletter, but have slower decompression routines (exomizer in particular!)
