On you tube there is a video showing a 'cassette' load of manic miner at 12600 baud. It's a joke i suppose...
(playing via pc i could not get more than 4800 baud).

Who knows if its fake or not. I know on the memotech mtx its possible via a poke command to speed up or slow down the load/save speed. (by the way if you want to know visit www.mtxworld.dk in tips and tricks menu).
I remember i try to go as fast as possible, but some filters in the tape port, will stop you to go to far. I dont know if the MSX have the same. On the Memotech you can easily hear it cause the loading sound will go the monitors speakers as well, and you can hear there is a big diffirence in the sound. You are also abel to hear that the computer didn accept (or can't "hear") if you go to far in baud rates. The Memotech by default have 2400.
I dont know if filters are made by hardware or software, but if there are filters, they need to be modified in someway, to load so great speed.
Of cause a computer recording 44khz or better are much better than old tapes. But if filters exist it does not madder at all :(

See the reactions on that video.
The remark about the BIOS top speed is not related: you can use a custom loader that is BLOADable at 2400 bauds, and then the compressed data. It can be done, of course. NEMESIS (1 Mb) takes only 1 minute with WAVeR. But this is a totally different approach, see the Spanish forum topic.
I thought they were using the normal loading stuff from the BIOS, and then it is related. But they seem to use stuff like WAVeR, indeed, which wasn't clear to me due to the blurry video (or the fact that it was very late yesterday).
pitpan: maybe you can tell us in short what the Spanish thread is about?
pitpan:
Nemesis ? - not even Nemesis 3 is on 1mb. As far as i remember Nemesis is 128kb.

the msx baud rate means bits/sec considering all control bits or is the real transfer rate usable? For example: when
msx works at 1200b/s does it mean that can load 150 bytes / seconds from tape or the real speed is less?
