If we consider Spectrum Next a success story I would say that it is because of the focus on staying as close to the old hardware as possible and bringing in the expansions people might have wanted but couldn't afford back then.
I can see the appeal of a box like that.

I agree, the Next has connected perfectly with the current community because it keeps the essence of the original. You feel like you are using a real spectrum with new features, it's something that for example MSXVR couldn't achieve because is heavily based on pure emulation.

But I was telling really about sales. For the potential MSX3 users, how many of them are interested in an MSX machine, and how many are interested in an IoT / learning platform?

It will have two antennas. What more do a MSX veteran need to dream of?
Come on, Nishi...

Really amazing! Welcome 2 The Future!
Does anyone know the link to participate in the web conference via zoom on July 30th?

There seems to be an old V9938 developer involved in the MSX3 development...

BTW, interesting interview to the Yamaha LSI staff at the MSX era. They confirm the V9978 existence:

unfortunately I don't have a twitter account, so I can't read these channels well.
but I thought I read something about an msx2 project with a z8001 as graphic copro, with a capacity of 512x384 and from 8 to 256 colors, but that the price was 1.28 million yen
but I can't find it again, can someone see it?

i found it!
v9938 research

* 2 In addition to the main CPU, the high-end model PU-I-20 of the YIS series was equipped with a 16-bit CPU from Zilog called Z8001 exclusively for graphics. In this era, it was a timeless high-performance machine capable of displaying the highest level of 512 x 384 dots and 8 out of 256 colors. The configuration that attaches this main CPU + CPU for video is an idea that leads to the specifications of MSX2 and later. But the total price of the system was 1.28 million yen. It is an idea that was not inherited by MSX.

Exciting in this bad period (war, Covid, climate
..)
There may soon be an official web page or FB page about MSX3.
Besides, is the MSX3 the official name of this new MSX or a project name?
I discovered the MSX2 in 1986 and I had 4 MSX including the last Panasonic MSX Turbo-R FS-A1 GT imported by a friend in Japan.
This oriented my life from my adolescence with an interest in Japan (several trips between 1992 and 2019) my passions or purchases of Japanese brands in electronics, vehicles etc.
The 80s remain the best decade for many things. We dared much more with more recklessness and less prohibition.
I hope that this new MSX will be compatible but above all that we can buy old software again (online store, download...) because some enthusiasts no longer have any MSX but want to come back.
Unfortunately I doubt that well-known Hardware (Panasonic....) or Software (Falcom...) brands want to make MSX3 if it remains a confidential market.
Maybe I could even do without my 2017 PC and not replace it. I only go on the internet and I sometimes make and print letters or files. Not much else, maybe MSX3 will do that.
I'm interested in the complete system (high end announced keyboard) but I don't know if "MSX2+ style" or "separate keyboard style".
I am very happy about the end of 2022 and 2023 to resume the MSX road which had been so beautiful between 1983 and 1994. Thank you Mr. Kazuhiko Nishi and a lot of courage for your beautiful project!
