At Karoshi Corporation we are proud to say that nowadays we are receiving a lot of feedback about our games or projects. Sometimes you must put things easy for the users, that's our conclusion: people are lazy to write an email. So, with our website and forums, we can say that now we know how much the MSX scene support our work. :) So, thank everyone who dropped us a line, and we invite all MSX users who haven't done it yet to visit us and give us feedback too. :)

We need new users instead of developers. IMO, MSX hardware and MSX community are very attractive for developers that wants to have fun with assembly or with the problems involving programming for a very limited machine. But there is not much beyond Metal Gear and Vampire Killer that brings attentions of the masses to our system.

I remember that in the netherlands, once there was a MSX text editor sold for gathering money to support multiple sclerosis research (MS). Read that in the MSX-Contakt! So why not dedicating a new game for such a purpose to bring attentions of the masses to our system? So developing for MSX would have a higher purpose and buying and playing of course, too! Maybe that could be applied to MSX hardware products, too, if they'll not get to expensive.

The "that'll never work", "first see, then believe", "why even bother" and "who gives, MSX is dead anyway" mentality that has been proven wrong time and time again is still haunting the MSX community every now and then. MSX Community: the fact that Sandy and Philip are wondering why and for who they are maintaining their great MSX websites is a sign. More than once I have been told by people who have offered their software for distribution in our downloads section that the only feedback they receive to it are the download statistics, if they make it to the top 10. And of course comments when there's a bug, typo or other error to report. Is it really that hard to turn those frowns upside down and give things a positive twist from time to time? To let those who are actively trying to keep the (memories of the) MSX computer system in all its aspects alive know that you appreciate what they are doing? That you like what they have created? To accept the things you might dislike about a website, person or project and cherish the good things it has to offer? Or to at least turn those negative feelings into a positive form of feedback? What happened to the idea of adding reactions to the downloads then? Down the tube already or moved to about a kabillion years in the future?

i read all and i not saw any joke-reaction.

the same that happens to website holders, happened to me. It is lacks of time... and ofcourse, if i needs to open the outlook, then looks for the email addr of a soft's programmer that i used, then to write a letter and send it...

maybe just doing available the reactions on the software database, it can boost the reactions and the good feedback... because in other way i will feedback only if it is necesary like informing a bug. ¿why? because nobody will take all the job of using the normal email channel just for reply "good job" overall because the user already thinks that the developer already has feedback.

If can be reacted on download db it will boost...
1. because you are already loged in.
2. because you already have the box to write something... (if you don't closed the browser).

Reactions to downloads will work for people who create downloadable production -and- visit MRC to view the reponses... But is that how it should work? I think not. If you really enjoy a production how much trouble is it to email the author, chat with him/her(?) on IRC, open up a topic, visit his/her(?) website and drop a line in the guestbook, etc... ?

Ofcourse we could facilitate reactions to each and every piece of content, but is that the way? Take Sandy and Phil for example. I don't see any logic in responding to their website at -this- website... That's plain weird Wink

Let's face it, we (including me, yes) are almost all lazy bastards who find it too much trouble to actively try to give eachother the credz we deserve. Fairs are excellent ways to tell people how much you appreciate the things they do, but unfortunately we can't all be at the same fairs... Our scene is too large and too widely spread.

There's only one way to show your appreciation to any active MSX lovah lovah which is actively trying to express that appreciation.

All said; I'd like to add a IMHO and 'Just my 2 cents" as a disclaimer Tongue

yeah, lazy... more than lack of time is the problem!

surelly no one of us go out of home to run 1km every day.... for the same reason

and surely by the same reason we are all growing in size (horizontally) every year
