2- Sharp Hotbit 1.2, with a Sharp HB-3600 disk drive.

5- 1990. The same Hotbit was upgraded to MSX2 using a kit by DDX
6- No original games back then. Given the closed market those were nearly impossible to find, and awfully expensive.

1- I bought my own MSX early 1990's, A NMS8250 upgraded to MSX2+.
2 - But before that I got a VG8020 from my uncle in 1988 or 1989.
3 - When I was around 12 year old.
4/5 - I got a NMS8220 some years later.
6 - I didn't buy many original games. I think Vampire Killer was the first. So let's say between 5 or 10.
7 - Yie ar Kunfu. the cassette version. Or beamrider.
8 - Boulderdash.
9 - No. Although on the moment no physical MSX is on my desk.

Not sure anymore. In the early '80 I copied a lot of tapes. Later when I had something to [
spend I bought some titles. But this was more in the nineties (On Fairs)

Did not own any software in the 80-90. Only started buying in 2008, by now have a few dozen games/utilities.

My dad bought us an MSX in 1986 (or early 1987).

2 - Which model?

A Philips VG 8020/20.

3 - How old were you?

9 or 10.

Yes.

In 1993 I convinced my dad to buy a Sony HB-G900P (for the disk drive mostly), as I was completely dead tired of using cassette tapes. I expanded this basic MSX2 later that year with 512kB mapper, fast diskROM, 192kB VRAM, MSX-DOS2, slot layout adjustment and added a 2nd disk drive.

I have bought at least two original tape games in the late eighties, early nineties (I remember: Reflex (in a shop) and Vampire (mail order via Time Soft, I think). My dad got an original game with the 8020 "Winter Olympics" (he originally got another game, but several were swapped as they didn't work (we didn't know about POKE -1,170 back then)). For my birthday I got "Formula One Simulator" and "Space Walk". And we also got a tape from people we knew who didn't use it anymore (Top Roller). I remember buying my first 2 cartridges games 2nd hand on the MSX Fair in Tilburg in 1993 or so (Uşas and Metal Gear).

None in particular

Not really left it ever. But I did get hooked on UNIX when going to university.

Yes, I made my job of my hobby. (I'm now a software engineer.)
