ricbit: No, DIX and DIY flip the order for both source and destination coordinates. They are designed to allow displacing (overlapping) copies without causing repetition.

I think Ys 3 uses LMMC ram->vram copies with DIX inverted, so the same sprite in ram can be blitted flipped to vram.

Another VDP? What's about V9990? Question I think that MSX doesn't needs more hardware, it really needs more software no mather target system (MSX / MSX2 / MSX2+ /MSX turbo R). In fact, there is too few games for V9958.

You have someone excited to develop any software or game to a new vdp?

No but perhaps someday I will develop something for the V9990...

(Only the price and specifications could make me change my mind.)

I don't want to put anyone down, but here are few things to carefully consider before expecting this project to be a success:

1) Non of the external VDP's have ever really succeeded to catch developers/users attention... Cards like MA-20 and SVI-727 were the first ones and have remained only in history side notes. This is mainly because if you need two monitors or a switch box, it is just too complex setup for anyone to have "ready to rock". It will be taken in to use only on a special occasion. Only try to get past this problem (AFAIK) was Video9000, but it had other problems:
- It was HUGE!
- The price was huge!
- It did not enable superimpose automatically on boot

Most successful external VDP of all times has been GFX9000... and how many releases it has had? I think 2 on this millennium... Sure there is content for Franky/PlaySoniq but they are not really MSX software, but more or less automatic game ports from Sega. Part of the problem is also that even if there would be easy way to get the hardware with little costs, there is no enough users if there is no enough developers and there is no enough developers, if there is no enough users.

2) Gameduino? If I would like to develop for Gameduino, why would I select MSX? Arduino is way cheaper and more easy to get than any MSX. You can probably get it for about the same price as shipping costs would be for your MSX adapter. Arduino has bigger user base than MSX. Arduino is faster than MSX and has all the libraries already available for download together with documentation and examples and the cross development is more easy... So ask your self how you will sell this to MSX developers?

I don't think I understood this. What is the advantage of having Video9000 superimposer active on boot? What you expected from this? V9990 "64 columns text mode" by default on boot?

the big problem is to have two monitors and not any monitor.

That's not really a problem with Video9000.

It is if it defaults to not superimposing, because the screen will stay blank until the Video9000 gets initialised by some software.
