Hi all,

After so may years i decided to connect my MSX again and it felt good! So I dusted off other MSX stuff and found the SunRise Game Reader (to connect your carts to you emulator). However I cannot find the CD with the drivers, nor can I find them online anywhere.

Is there anyone that has the drivers for this device?

dunno where to get it, but if you have a Windows later than XP you won't get it running.

MSX Game Reader tools:

Otherwise, Game Reader works fine with BlueMSX.

Drivers that worked on Windows XP have a good chance of working on Windows 7 or later if the OS is of 32bit variety and user disable signed driver enforcement. Unfortunately 64bit Windows flavors require specific drivers and while XP 64bit did indeed exist it wasn't popular so it's very likely that 64bit drivers do not exist...

The latter part is what I read here through the years, it's the 64bit issue...

But what's keeping the coders from making a 64bit version? It's not like MSX was less dead in the XP era than it is now Wink

Thanks guys for the answers...
I am planning to use XP 32 bit in a VM... Can anyone confirm that to be a successful path?

However, do I not need the installer that came with my Game Reader? I remember something like needing the msxgr.dll driver?

Anyone some info on this?

Probably the fact that some homebrew cartridges, due to some of their components, can't be detected (and read) by the MSX Game Reader.

It was the best way from a part of the MSX scene to kill the Game Reader, independently from the lack of updates for the drivers.

chicken or the egg?
MSX cartridges incompatible with Game Reader already existed long before it was manufactured.

It was not a good reason to keep releasing incompatible cartridges after the release of the Game Reader.

+1
They are just normal MSX cartridges, that follow the MSX standard.
