Now my Zemmix Neo works great with the sound, something i discoverd is strange....

The speed of the game(s) are higher on my Zemmix than on my NMS 8245 with the Megaflashrom, i tried the same game, for
example Kings Valley2, the MSX2 version with SCC.

The music on the Zemmix is faster, and the game also, comparing with the NMS8245 with the Megaflashrom

Maybe a setting issue ??

I think thats the issue.
I connect the the Zemmix with a VGA cable to my Samsung T200HD, bought this monitor last week second hand on Marktplaats.

I set de DP-switch on the correct 50HZ, amd in Sofarun: Videomode: 50HZ, but when i switch to 50HZ the screen gets an error message "not supported" dutch:"niet ondersteund"

I do not want to use it as SCART but, the screen is very crappy.

My Samsung T200HD does not have a S-VIDEO connector.

Any tips ?

Just play it at 60 Hz? Many games like King’s Valley II were made for 60 Hz, so you’re actually hearing the music at the speed intended by the Japanese developers.

Anyway, it’s a familiar thing for MSX users.

Ok. But how is IT possible that i do not have that
problem on my NMS 8245?

In SofaRun, you should have default and per-game settings for OMC CPU speed. It could be your DIP switches (under the OCM case) are set at 8Mhz, which could explain the faster speed.

Try to set the OCM speed to 3.5MHz in SofaRun settings and see if that changes something (on OCM, I prefer to have the DIP switch at 8Mhz for fast boot and browsing, but I use 3.5Mhz for most games in SofaRun settings).

Actually, for most Japanese games the problem is on the NMS 8245, they play too slowly there, not that the Zemmix Neo is too fast Smile.

PAL systems have a 50 Hz display frequency, so the game progresses one step 50 times per second. On NTSC systems the display frequency is 60 Hz, so the game progresses a step 60 times per second. Due to this, if you play a game on a PAL system, even though the CPU clock speed is the same, the games and their music will often still play 20% slower.

The video mode not supported message is there because VGA requires a 60 Hz signal, so if the Zemmix Neo supplies 50 Hz on the VGA output then the monitor can’t display it. It will work via RGB SCART though, if you have a monitor which supports that.

You can make your NMS 8245 run in 60 Hz mode as well: type VDP(10)=0 in BASIC. If you start a game after this (without reset), it will also play faster.

Thank you for the answer Grauw.
Is there a way that i can use with the NMS 8245 in combination with the Megaflashrom always in 60 HZ mode, so i dont have to use the command VDP(10)=0 every time. Or do i get problems than with the european games ?

In the MegaFlashROM SCC+ SD manual you will find a list of options for OPFXSD (the ROM flashing tool). Among those there is a /H50 and /H60 option which you can specify, so that you can make it switch to the 60 Hz (or 50 Hz) frequency before the game starts.

You can also set the "Video Mode" to 60Hz in SofaRun default settings (it will be applied at SofaRun launch time), or set it per-game.

Also in MSX-DOS2 you can use either the HERTZ command or the 50HZ and 60HZ tools to switch frequency without going to BASIC.
