If you have the default MFRSCC+SD installation, MM, AUTOEXEC.BAT, etc... are located on a "diskROM", that is read-only. So you have 2 options:
1. Remove the ROMDisk (that can be done in the MFRSCC Recovery menu at boot time) and put AUTOEXEC.BAT, SofaRun, etc... on your SD Card.
2. Create a new diskROM image and flash it instead of the default one. You'll also have to set the SAVE / SETTINGS / TEMPORARY pathes to B: in the SR.INI and SROM.INI file.
I'm using option 1 here (way easier), loading from the SD Card is not so slow compared to diskROM.
Before stuff get mixed up, Louthrax means the ROMdisk

I have adopted this method, SofaRun is a nice interface, although it appears slower than MM? Still, it is faster than a 3.5" disk! Thank you for your help.
SofaRun is a bit slower on the 1st launch because it's creating files at that time. It's especially slow on a crowded device, that's why I like putting ROM and disk images on SDCard A:, and temporary files (defined in SR.INI and SROM.INI) on SDCard B:. You can also skip the "splash screen" to speed up launch.
I've not made comparisons of browsing times between SofaRun and MM yet, but that could be interesting.

What's "etc."? I'm trying to get SofaRun to boot from my MFR as well and I'm not having any luck. Anyone want to post the entire process so I can get this going?
boot with cursor up pressed.
choose remove romdisk
you're done.
The "etc" isn't important. You'll see it when you get there.
tip: before removing the romdisk it could be handy to copy the content to your sd card cuz there's handy stuff on it.
Alright so I've deleted the ROMDisk, copied everything over from the ROMDisk to my SD card beforehand, and then edited the autoexec according to Guillian's instructions here, but no dice. All it does now is go to the Nextor prompt.
You did name it autoexec.bat and put it on the A: drive? Does it execute anything from that autoexec.bat at all?
Now with the romdisk gone you can get rid of the autoexec.bat and find out how to install sofarun.
I don't know if sofarun comes with an autoexec.bat. If it doesn't, it shouldn't be too hard to create/get one
Is there a method to sort a FAT16 directory on the SD card?
