here is my idea:

1 - IDE cd reader connected to MSX bus

2 - sega cd like game developed for msx on the reader
explaining:
track 1 contains the game
track 2 contains the music direct on cd, real music track

*during game playing the msx plays the music track direct to a speaker or audio exit..
that means, the msx does not interpret music from cd only activates the reading that plays to audio exit.

possible ? doable?

more interested on the hardware used for this cd to run on a msx......rather than the game itself.

Sunrise ATA-IDE interface + a regular IDE CD/DVD drive unit.

seeing that flash memory is rather cheap now, I often wonder if it would be possible to just have the soundtrack in pcm in the ROM cartridge and stream it from there on. Maybe add a chip that streams it directly to the audio ports like the mp3 player for msx. Could this be a better solution since not everyone has the required hardware for a cd rom setup, or wants to spend lots of money for one or two games?

There's indeed a second game :

Unfortunaly, SLotman's space on the net is too small to host the files since 2004 ! :x
