Padial or Sunrise card adapter?

Hi everybody, I'm very interesting in buying some card adapter for the MSX but I don't which of them is best, Padial or Sunrise?
I have MSX and MSX 2 computers and I would like to use it in both systems. I know I can use the Padial adapter in both computers but is Sunrise's card adapter able to work in MSX too? Despite the fact that Padial's adapter is not cased, which one would you recommend?

I remember i asked for ordering padial one for my turboR and he said it would not work on it .
(if some day you plan to get a turbR)

i have sunrise CF , i am happy with it , the only problem is that my laptop has only SD slot so for file exchange i need an external card reader . on the other hand i had a pair of 256&128mb cf card that were no more used, so it is a perfect match.
-> i my mind sunrise is possible to use on msx1 but without msxdos2 it is not very interesting unless you partition in 5 your CF .

There is also the sd v2.2, i have v1.0 and it works on my TurboR , seems slower but has floppy emulation for games but also smaller 23mb partitions, ( i guess someone can live with it on msx ) maybe better match for msx1 imho.

I wonder if SDHC are accepted ( i think no )

your msx2 has 128kb or more for msxdos2 ?

Hi Leo, thank you very much for your quick answer. Yeah, my MSX 2 is a Sony Hit Bit HB-F700 and has 256 Kb of RAM. I haven't used it very much since I bought it in ebay, because without a card adapter it is a quite painful task transfering software between the PC and the MSX only by floppy.

Well, talking about all this I have a doubt now . I have an IDE CF adapter that I bought in order to use it with the Divide interface for the ZX Spectrum. Would it be possible to use it with the Sunrise IDE Adapter? It would be great because I could use CDs, Harddrives and also CF cards for the MSX. Does anybody know if it works also with MSX?

dont know really , i see the sunrise adpater needs a power cord ...
Since you did not used much your hb700 due to Fdisk i guess you may not want to bother
with hard disks ...
Any msx are limited to 2GB ( at best using fat16), harddisk were interesting when you had a 400mb hd and 16mb CF , but nowadays why bother ?
CD also are useless almost no software for msx comes on CD ...
....
Anyway i can tell you this : sunrise CF and SD interface v1.0 (Erikie) work on my HB700D , so it has CF AND SD support when i do transfer !

You talk about SD Interface v1.0 (Erikie) and sd v2.2, excuse me because I'm a newbie, what are they really? I mean, where can I get them? How much do they cost? I presume that there must be some kind of CF to SD low cost common adapter for card readers, mustn't be there?

i know cf to sd adapter exists but i have never seen any ( hard to find)

on this same forum there is a topic SD V2.2 , there you can see what it is and contact erikie , i bought mine this way. put i dont want to push you to any adaptor , sunrise are cased which is nice.

sunrise has a ide to cf adapter that means you have to buy their ata ide interface + their adaptor and dont i see well if you have only 1 cf slot , while if you go for cf adapter directly you get 2 slots. i think also it is more expensive with ata ide + adapter ( ok 10 euros at most )

for padial i dont know what to tell : if your spanish you may want to support devlopper in your country ( shipment )

price wise i guess
sd v2.2 is cheapest ( no scc , 2x Sd slots, good fd emulation for games )
then sunrise ata ide ( but only ide disk/cdrom , no flash card)
sd v1.0 (with SCC only 1 slot and slower than v 2.2 same fd emulation )
then sunrise CF
then sunrise ata + cf adpator

If you really want to know if your ide to CF adaptor can work ask directly to sunrise , i personally dont know but my guess is that it works since it makes any cf behave like an ide hd ( in theory )

It really depends on what your needs are.
I have a sunrise CF interface and it works great but is not very handy when you want to play old games from disk.
Sunrise CF works in MSX1 but you need external memory (at least 128K).
The SD interface I built from the schematic from sharksym works in msx1 but is a bit limited in use compared to using it in msx2.
The SD is great for playing disk images but it is a bit harder to get used to for most people and does not handle a lot of drives compared to CF. In CF you can get A: to F: with partitions from your CF.
SD only handles 4 (internal flash memory) system disk partition and work partition of slot 1 SD card and D: = slot 2 SD card.

It is really up to you what to choose and what you need to do with it
