Joymega Issues with Y'S 2 HDD Version Ver1.03

  • Sony HB-F1XD - all OK.
  • Panasonic WX - not OK, if joymega is connected before game starts it will move the player to the left forever, when pluged after game is started them up and right do not work, the (S)tatus - (I)nventory - (E)quipement- only work before using the d-pad, after using D-pad the buttons rarely work.
  • Panasonic WSX (regular version) - not OK, when game starts it will move the player to the left forever, but, take out the joymega, press E, plug the joymega again, then press C or B in the pad and all works OK.
  • Panasonic WSX (best version) - all OK.
  • Panasonic ST - all OK.

Hope this tests are good to find clues to solve the problem, I'm sorry it took so long to test every thing but I have to plug and test all the computers in the same day.

Thanks for testing YS2HDD Version. I let Victor knows about this report.

PS: I forgot to ask you about what HDD interface was used? also What is the differences between WSX Regular and Best Version?

I used the Carnivore 2 + Joymega 1.2 kmtech + Mega Drive 6 button pad in all computers.

WX - I dont beleave there will be a fix for this computer unless you go with a two fire button only
WSX Regular and WSX Best Version - is my way to define the diferent controller for joystick

My 3 MSX2+ Panasonic all have diferent way to read joystick , only one works 100% with the Joymega so I dubed that one as the best version.

Does the problem get fixed if you run WX in turbo mode?
I've encountered a similar problem in a completely different software and hardware setup.
I'm testing my diy cartridge with various chips on it, inserted to a WX and using a panasonic pad to joystick port 1, and a beer ide in another slot. (I tested this on Yamaha cx5mii/128 PAL and works OK). On WX the joystick works strange (no or slow response or stuck pressed). The software is written using fusion c. When I set the WX to turbo and run the software, it works OK. WX's joystick port and the joypad is functional, I tested it with other games.
So my problem does not involve carnivore or mfr or joymega.

Thanks St1mpy for your report that make me recall while ago (2010) I was testing FRANKY VDP + TurboR(512KB RAM MOD) with one of the first SMS2MSX conversion in ROM format (GhoulsAndGhost_for MegaflashRom) and I was so disappointing because my standard MSX Joypad get always stuck pushing it down to the main character hero making the game unplayable.

I tried again just now and the symptoms are a little different but same in general. This time the controls are generally OK apart from even though I'm just using the direction keys one of the button gets pressed randomly. This happened even when the keyboard is used (cursor keys). But does not happen when turbo mode is on.
What I'm suspecting is, possibly the power supply is not functioning properly and needs maintenance. (It appears if you have loads of power hungry cartridges in use problem happens). Or it is to do with noise from the cartridge. It is strange that the problem goes away if I use 5.37mhz.

I will have to test my 1942 Zennima Rom and Ys2 again with the Joymega using turbo on the WX to see if it fixes the problem.

Found a more reliable fix. If I use a slot expander and insert my cartridge there it works fine. So, it must be noise as these slot expanders will have buffers so the signal is stronger. But It would have the opposite effect on power, as more chips are hanging off the slot now, and it shows as a ide cart didn't function now, so the power supply in wx is on its way out (unless it is by design).
So it is actually both power and noise issue. In this case the turbo mode didn't help. It probably only helped because some chips get reset. So reset does also help, but ultimately the power supply needs maintenance.
