Im thinking of buying this monitor Sony Trinitron 14” studiomonitor SSM-14N5E to use with my MSX SVI 728 from an auction site. Is it any good for MSX1 machines?

- Built-in speaker for audio monitoring
- Durable metal cabinetry

Mmmm, no RGB input?. For a MSX1 like the SVI-728 looks good; but I would prefer a RGB capable monitor...

I agree, buying a monitor seems a bit of a waste without RGB and/or adjustable controls for the picture. This has none of those.

This is mostly intended as a video camera monitor for a shop or gate for example. It does handle both S-video and all colour encodings you might need. But it is a bit awkward to use since it does not have an RCA jack for composite in, only BNC so you will need an adaptor. A normal TV probably offers the same specs but with RCA connector. If you live in Europe you will probably have RGB scart aswell.

+1

What's more: I salute the brave who in the year 2015 consider actually paying money for a CRT screen. Smile2 (some niche / professional uses aside)

I would very happily pay for a CRT screen if mine broke and I weren't able to get another one for free. I simply don't like how the MSX graphics look like in a modern TV. Sony Trinitrons are indeed the best ones IMHO.
