I think this is not a openmsx specific problem, but scc blaffer nt is very picky when it comes to detecting scc.
I use openmsx with catapult. I tried several options to start the program with scc, but it still doesn't detect the scc.

The only way I got it to work, is to start the program, inserting a scc cart in slot 1 and push CTRL-R to re-detect scc.

Is there any way to let the program detect scc right from the start. Just like moonblaster, I select moonsound in catapult, start the program and tadaa, the program detects the moonsound.

The manual of SCC Blaffer NT says:

Quote:

To start SCC-Blaffer NT put the diskette in drive A: and power up the MSX. As soon as the computer accesses the floppy drive push the cartridge into any cartridge slot (WARNING: If procedure is not correctly executed damage to cartridge and/or computer may occur. That’s why we recommend you to make a little switch onto your SCC cartridge)

After the MSX accessed the drive, the initialising routines will be loaded into memory. In this initialising routine will be checked if you have the minimum hardware configuration. If not, the MSX halts itself. If no SCC is detected during this phase, the tracker won’t start up. If somehow the SCC isn’t detected correctly, you can force SCC-Blaffer NT to use the slot you wish. This is accomplished by hitting 1 or 2. After that, SCC-Blaffer NT will continue loading. If no SCC is inserted in one of the slots, then insert an SCC, it’ll be automatically detected as soon as you insert the cartridge, and after that SCC-Blaffer NT will continue its loading sequence.

hmm, that's lame.. And also not true, because when I start the program and no scc is found, the program just continues loading and boots up. It doesn't halt and no pressing 1 or 2 is asked.
But I understand your point, just insert the scc cart later and press CTRL-R. that works. Nothing catapult can do about it.

You could probably use a trick take an SCC game and remove the AB header from the ROM file (just replace with 00 00) and then insert that as SCC cart. THen the game won't start.

Mushrooms and programming lead to strange results LOL! Cool

I remember pointing them to the SCC detection routine made by Briquinilus... (or how do you spell that?) but it seems they didn't listen.

as long as their basic replayer doesn't suffer that issue.

Their basic replayer works fine, that’s why it’s so strange that it is so problematic with the program itself.
