Global MSX Revival - Bazix
yes
interesting!
You are allowed to write reactions longer than one word in this thread, you kow Come on, don't be shy. Are you 100% optimistic, or do you have doubts? What would you like Bazix/MSX Association to do in the (near) future, are you 100% against what's happening or... something in between? (and why?
)
snout: you know my main point already
btw.. will W.o_O.mB also be the portal for the Latin-American developers regarding published games? (after a while)
I see a few positive things in this development.
We can talk about revival openly, cauz it does exist
I think the whole concept of exanging Japanese games / European games is awesome cauz as a developer (let's say) in the Netherlands can have a wide spread audiance.
I'm also glad that (retro) games are recycled once again, in a brand new concept. We already have emulators, but these are most likely for people who own an MSX. Now people without any MSX knowledge can still play these game with a double click on an icon.
I also want to say that it's a good idea to expand the whole idea just step by step.. Just bring it to the peoples attention. Make people talk about MSX again, and finally people will hopefully enjoy these old, or new, MSX games once more...
It might also boost up productivity on a global bases, cauz (I hope) people will be confronted with the term MSX again, and thus people might want to take the challenge again on writing Z80 code (but that's just a little sidetrack that might take some time to take effect)
...and... finally we have a good use for the Internet
having a middle man with the jp market makes interesting to develop for msx....
so, snout, when it will starts being official? i asks about as middle man, not just the portal that shows sells games...
on the other hand...
how do you will handles the jp translations... jpaneses understand english?
konami's games will be selled licenced? do you have already a contract?
why woob? not just msx?, not just selling games (downloable or new cartridges) for msx?
If Bazix is going to offer (new) MSX soft that it isn't in Net, that's OK. If it is going to offer something that I can download for free elsewhere I will not pay an eurocent for that soft.
There's a thing that I've not undrestood very well:
This software will first be released for the Windows platform only, but in the future also Linux, Mac OS-X and even mobile platforms will be supported.
This is nice for people who don't know how to use an emulator but, does this mean that Bazix will not sell soft for real MSXes?
About the distribution of the new MSX Magazine and the one-chip MSX these are good news. Japan is far away and we could save some money.
This is nice for people who don't know how to use an emulator but, does this mean that Bazix will not sell soft for real MSXes?
Iirc, there will only be emulated version.. so it's not for real thing (yet)
We can safely say Bazix will start where it has to start: at the beginning. What developments will follow (e.g. other languages, software for other platforms, software in shops, importing hardware, software and/or magazines, publishing magazines, selling software for real MSX'es) greatly depends on the success of WOOMB. Nothing can be achieved without a capital, so the first thing we need to do is gaining that. A capital can then be reinvested in other aspects of bringing MSX back to life.
You are right, Rikusu.
