Hi there !!

i got this MSX 2 Computer a few Days ago;

but i have no idea where i can get Games for it;
E-Bay isn't the holy grale for buying...

i search japanese Games like Puyo Puyo 1+2, Nemesis 1+2+3, Salamander, Parodius...

How much do the cost ? complete and in good - very good condition
Does my machine run every Rom Game ?
and how is the compatiblity from a japanese Rom on a Pal machine ? does it work ?

Thx a lot and sorry for my bad englisch

It probably runs about all MSX2 and MSX1 cartridges. It's no problem to run Japanese cartridges, it will work (except for the Japanese version of Metal Gear, which explicitly checks for a Japanese machine and refuses to run on a non-Japanese machine).

For disk games: this MSX has a single sided (360k) disk drive, so you won't be able to run double sided disk games (like Puyo Puyo), unless you modify this MSX (replace disk drive and probably also disk ROM).

Note that there is no such thing as Puyo Puyo 2 for MSX.

Prices of these games vary highly. eBay is still your best bet, especially for Konami games.

Have fun!

it's no Problem, if Puyo Puyo does not run...
i have many other versions of the Game, but for the collection, i need it ;-)

thanks for your answer about the imported Games, thats great !
i will look for the nemesis series first and a complete bubble bobble
it think i start my collection ROM only.. then i am sure, that they will run.

something else; i like strange Games like Divine Sealing ( Mega Drive)
will the Pink Sox Serie's work on this MSX ? LOL!
and are there more Games like these on the MSX ?

All games that were released on disk need a diskdrive that can read doublesided disks...

By the way... what the h*ll has happened with the keyboard of your 8235... it looks like someone barked in it...

are the keys working, though? that's more important...
I had a good vg8235 (with disk modification) but with a bad keyboard... I then bought a very cheap vg8235 with worn out cartridge slots but it had a good keyboard...so I swapped the keyboards (actually the entire top of the units, that was easier).

Don't worry... they will run... Konami did not actually do different ROMs for Japanese and European markets, so If you buy for example some Gradius module (Japanese version of Nemesis) and place it to your european machine the game name will be automatically changed to Nemesis and texts will be translated to english.

and are there more Games like these on the MSX ?Most disk games won't run on this computer indeed, since they usually are 2DD disks. If you know what a soldering iron looks like, you might consider fitting this beast with a 720kB drive. It doesn't cost a whole lot of money (maybe $25) and it doesn't really require that much skill, it's mostly patience... Perhaps 'repair-bas' still has diskROMs for these things, and with a little care and patience you should be able to pull this off on a rainy sunday afternoon. If it works out, you'd be able to play pretty much every MSX2 game ever released. (Including Puyo, Pink Sux and a million other cool titles you may not know yet) If it doesn't work out, at least you'd have a nice fire-works show for just the cost of the ROM and the drive! Tongue

Didn't I warn you about getting that single-sided FDD machine? (or was that some one else, just last week)
ahwell, It's a nifty machine and will run atleast them Konami cartridges, which all are true gems anyway!
I had a 8235 myself early eighties, sniff. I sold it to get a sony tho.. ghehe (HB700D, german keyboard and all. slow diskrom.. but replaced a few years later) Now I own the big allmight super turbo-R...... somewhere boxed in the corner of the basement (again)....
