Hi.

How can it be possible that a few MSX games was published in 1982, when the MSX system is born in 1983?

Maybe early SpectraVideo SVI 318/328 conversions?

I can understand those games mentioned by Crazy Boss, as MSX was introduced in late 1982, it sounds sensible to me if there were few existing games to show that you can use MSX for playing.

by the way: I would like to know WHICH GAMES were used to show compatibility between MSXs in that VERY FIRST introduction in 1982?Smile

But those ZORK I-III, if year is really correct, to me they are harder to understand, as msx was first introduced in japan (?) so it feels somewhat strange if infogrames had ported big ENGLISH language text adventures to new system which was about to be born soon.... I mean was there SO MANY japanese in 1982 who A) could speak english well and B) buy brand new computer MSX as soon as it is published and C) buy 3 Big english language text adventures instead of much nicer action game cartridges and D) did they buy brand new 1982/83 MSX with ENOUGH MEMORY to run ZORK? Remember that 8K RAM MSXs were popular in early eighties japan (they costed less) and I doubt that ZORK would work with 8K or even with 16K.... Tongue

If ZORK publishing year 1982 is correct, then I like to ask that was Infogrames really thinking that BRAND NEW NEVER HEARD OF computer system would soon hit in EVERY HOME accross the english speaking world? Maybe they thought that japanese could start building MSXs really fast to conquer the world soon? Thinking that they ported all three ZORKs at once to new system which wasn´t even in production yet? Maybe, if they were porting just first ZORK to test how it could sell on new machine, but all three ZORKs before computer is published? Of course, if they did publish their popular ZORKs before MSX was published, they of course were the first ones to offer games for new computer and as there weren´t too many games at the start, they could have good sellings. Maybe, it is possible, but I don´t know....

What do you think?

hmm, i think msx should have better games at realease but maybe it was to expensive to get the licenses, i mean that time atari rules the world and i think sega also introduced the sg-1000 console. Games which should be at realease : spaceinvaders, pacman, a chess game etc. i dont think zork was a kick-ass release, no graphics, who wants that....

Pacman was a Atari franchising ... Philips tried to compete in the Video-Game market. Some direct conversions from Arcade and Video-Games would be nice !!!

Space Invaders, there was something strange about the copyright status of this title ...

Anyway, some years later the MSX standard got most of the games.

HAL released nice DRAGON ATTACK in 1983. Smile Thought can´t know if it was released early or late 1983... Question Dragon Attack combines Space Invaders and Centipede! Smile I should find that cartridge and play it again. Smile It´s somewhere here... Wink

Exactly, surely someone of those FEW "freaks" in early eighties who already knew about text adventures and loved playing them (and had english as mother tongueWink) but everybody else...? No.

Hi, just to explain in case anyone falls in this thread as I have done right now....
All MSX games with (C) 1982 are games that where previously released for other systems and are (C) in that year.
MSX didn't exist in 1982 and first prototypes were sent to japanese software houses in august 1983 so no developement could be done before.
