On MSX2 they use the enhanced color pallette, but it works fine on an MSX1 (The cardridge box would have shown an MSX2 logo instead of an MSX logo as well btw...)

I tried to run the Nemesis 3 .Rom with various MSX1 machines but it always give me a white screen.!!!!
( I tried with MegaFlashRom).

alshamaa: Just MegaFlashRom? Without SCC? I think that one supports only ASCII8 mapper type, according to the wiki. Someone with more experiece with that might chime in.

I have both MegaFlashRomSCC+ and MegaFlasRomSCC+SD, and Nemesis 3 works without problems (on MSX1). Probably also with MegaFlashRomSCC. It makes sense it does not work with ASCII8 mapper.

Even if you could make it work without SCC, IMHO it is not worth it (EDIT: use an emulator instead or get an SCC cart!)... you are missing a big part of the music and SFX.

I'm useing MegaFlasRomSCC+SD.
I tried also with Sofarun. I got the same white screen.
I tried to run it with AlAlamiah AX-170 & Daewoo DPC-200 (Arabic edition) I got the same white screen.
So I tried with blueMSX and got two results:
1-if I chose from machine editor the :(MSX) =the game will run successfully.
2-if I chose from machine editor the :(MSX - Arabic)= I'll got the same white screen.
-
So I got the the same result when I use Arabic MSX1 Machine & when I use blueMSX with Arabic MSX.

Hmm, that's weird.

I tried AlAlamiah AX170 on OpenMSX, and it indeed does not run Gradius 3.

I ran msxmem.bas and I can see that slots 1 and 3 are expanded, while slot 0 is not (and contains MSX1 BIOS). RAM was in slot 3-0. Slot 1-0 page 1 has some ROM in it...

This must be some incompatibility with Arabic MSXes and Nemesis 3. Perhaps the expanded slots, perhaps the built-in software? You are supposedly be able to skip the internal software by holding down 'CTRL' while booting, but it had no effect in OpenMSX (or, more precisely, it does skip the software but Gradius 3 still does not run).

I think sooner or later someone is going to crack why isn't it running . But now we know it is not just you, it is all AX-170 out there (and it seems a lot of other Arabic MSXes too),

I hold down 'CTRL' while booting, but nothing change with the Arabic MSXes.
I tried it with Sony HB101P and its works successfully.
After testing I got this result:
Nemesis 3 .Rom didn't work with the following Arabic MSX1:
- AlAlamiah AX-170
- AlAlamiah AX-230
- AlAlamiah AX-200
- Daewoo DPC-200 (Arabic edition)
its just work with:
- AlAlamiah AH-200 (Hitachi)..

I did a bit more googling since this Nemesis 3 business seemed to remind me of something...

I came upon this thread, and I remembered that I have already read this some time ago. Seems BiFi(?) has made the patch years ago in 2007!

So I presumed and the Arabic MSXes are hit by the same bug, and tried the .ips patch on my GOFER.ROM ... and after patching it works with AlAlamiah AX-170 in OpenMSX!

I Hope you can now play Nemesis 3 on all your MSXes B-)

You'll have to apply the IPS patch to the ROM image and then load the patched ROM into your MegaFlashROM SCC+ SD. Then you can play it on your real Arabic MSX.
