Hey guys,
I just got in a couple more MSX games, and one of them was a Japanese copy of Ashguine II: The Sky Citadel. I've been buying up a lot of MSX and MSX2 carts these past couple months -- ever since I got my hands on the system itself -- and this is the first time I've ever purchased a cart that simply refused to even boot up. When I put it in and fire up the system, I either lock up at a blue screen (I know it's locked up because if I hit the Pause key, the pause light doesn't even come on) or go straight to MSX BASIC.
I've already contacted the eBay seller I bought it from, and will likely just return it (or get a refund and keep it, if he lets me) and buy another copy... but I wanted to check here and see if this is a common problem with this or other MSX titles, since I'm still pretty new to all of this. And if it is a common problem, do you know if it can be solved? Like, if I were to take the cart in to my local mom-and-pop retro game repair shop, is it likely they'd have the know-how (or I could give them pertinent information) to repair it and make it function again?
As you can probably tell from my questions, I'm not very familiar with the technical side of things when it comes to MSX games! But for your own information, my system is a Panasonic FS-A1WX MSX2+ with MSX music, and I have 12 other cartridge games (both MSX and MSX2) and 2 disk games (MSX2) that all function perfectly on it, so I'm pretty sure I more than match the specs needed to play Ashguine 2, and am thus also pretty sure the problem lies within the cartridge.
Thanks for any advice or commentary you guys can give!
